Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flat Wounds

I find I am beginning to put TIs on everything. Even my Martin 000-1. OK, I put TI acoustic strings (12-52, if I recall rightly), but still TI.

I even have them on my active 5 string. I actually want a roundwound sound on this bass, but I keep finding the jazz flats slipping back. I have tried HiBeams (not enough bass), Boomers (too much bass), and Slowounds (E died within a week). I will try stainless steel strings next...

The only bass where TI strings have failed is my Rob Allen. They were good, but the LaBellas are better.

Andy, IMO DR makes really long lasting strings. I've used both Hi-Beams and Lo-Riders. Lo-Riders are a better all around string IMO, deeper tone with good top end. They feel a lot stiffer than Hi-Beams and don't sound as raw and biting. I prefer the feel of Hi-Beams and the sound of Lo-Riders. I haven't tried Fat-Beams yet but if they were both of those things they would probably be my favorite string.

I'll give 'em a shot. Thanks for the idea. But I have already spent 80 dollars on strings this month.....

FWIW Ive tried the DR Low Riders in nickel.Id rate them as one of the 2 or 3 best RW's ive tried.Very nice tone and they last pretty long as well. They have a sound quality simmilar to a guitar but of course in a very real bass version. If that makes sense to you!Thats the best way i can describe them.Nice strings!Good luck!

Willie D! Come...join us :p (T/I fanatics) .
You WILL be assimilated :D .

The T/I's are kinda' like the Model T (one color => black) when
it comes to gauges. I guess you'd call `em Lite or Xtra-lite.

They ARE a little $teeper than most sets.
About $36 at Bad Link Removed .

I was pleasantly surprised recently when I noticed my local G/C
carryin' T/I JF344's. `Course they got a bass guy who actually
knows what he's doin' (51-P-Bass-dude ;) )
Not marked-up too bad either (~$38).

Get them from Dude!He has them for less plus he's a nice guy.Besides the poor slob got booted off the FDP and needs to hear from his ole buds now and then.Tell him i said hello and compliment him on his red sneaks. He'l give ya a discount!Nah,just kiddin but throw steve the biz.

LOL Bernie...you've been misinformed as expected. I chose to leave the F Dee Pee for good reason and slammed the door shut behind me. After I did so the "host" posted that he "booted" me off after eliminating all evidence to the contrary like a worm. Oh well! There was at least one witness to what went down (happened at like 2:30 AM).

Anyway, with regard to TI's I only sell them in the US and here's a link to my pricelist and information. Bottom line price for the Jazz Flats is $34.00 plus $1.50 for postage (no $4.95 S&H BS).

I also now have my own forum where I can say whatever the heck I damned well please at:

I can personally vouce for Dude and his strings (Not that he needs me to). I've ordered a couple of sets, and I just came from Paypal where I dropped him a c note for a couple of sets of strings, including single high C. Give him your business. Wouldn't you rather give your business to a bass playin', bike-ridin', article writin' Dude than a faceless corporation, anyway?

I picked up a set of TI's at Bass Day 2000 in New York from the rep for Thomastik -paid more than Dude's price :( After several months of play on my MM Stingray, they keep getting better! I don't wipe my strings off either. Very smooth on the fingers with a strong fundamental tone. If you use Thomastiks on your upright, the TI flats are perfect for the bass geetar.
