Thread for people with join dates 2002 and older

Guess I qualify. Don’t know how I missed the first two iterations of this dubious club. Lot of names that I used to see every day, several times a day but haven’t seen in years. Nice little walk down memory lane.

That's the same how I feel when I read through this thread.
It's the good guys like you that keep me hanging around TalkBass buddy. Thanks for being here.

It's like a fossil convention in here.

I'm two-years-too-young to post this but:

Talkbass was instantly 'a thing' for me ... who was always too late on just about everything the internet had to offer. In the 90's I was a youngster in Sarasota FL, and was either outside or playing my bass, so I missed the chat boards/forums.

Ditto on MySpace/Early-Facebook. Late to the party.

Then I found Talkbass.

I learned everything I know about internet etiquette and the unique responses I have to this kind of stimuli. Learned it the hard, falling-on-face way.

I still feel like Twitter/Facebook/etc and essentially this whole thing of addressing people in ways that two humans would likely never do if they were face-to-face and had body language cues is dividing humanity and doing all manner of evil things, but this site is the thing I can not/will never abandon.

I'm content to just read for the most part, and for every time I get drawn into a '34" basses can't have good b-strings', 'basses that don't say Fender on the headstock can never sound like a P-bass' debate (to mention a few of my bugaboos) there are another dozen times I delete a long rant.

I'm thousands of dollars lighter because of this site but could never put a dollar amount on how rich I've become in knowledge.

I'll leave you to your lawns. Sorry to be a bother.
