Obviously the girl, her management, and the fans are happy with the way the band looks. I'm willing to bet he gets the most tail too.
The whole band looks, and more importantly plays, great. Nothing funnier that a bunch of amateurs chatting online while they should be performing their day jobs, talking crap about a guy playing in a national act on Good Morning America not being pro. Typical Talkbass.

I could add that the three-string double bass was a common site in classical music until the mid to late 19th century, but I would probably get a big "who cares."
Dragonetti, who may be the most important, but at least among them, composer and double bassist in history, was commonly known to play one.
While I have no idea if Dragonetti was known for douche baggery, I do know that he has been dead for 163 years, and some shmo BI specialist who went to public school knows all about him.

I just heard Discharge's mid-80's reunion album recently. Ugh ... wow.
I liked it better than this tune though. Nothing against country music, just don't think this tune is any good ... nor that Discharge album for that matter.

Hawk's way more mainstream now, guys. Nonetheless, she's not just country, she's modern Nashville. I saw plenty of mohawks there last time I swung through. He's clearly a gun for hire, and he's good enough that he doesn't have to look the part, necessarily.

Not all of us old bass players are trying to learn to play like Peanut or Flea or lead bass. We are playing like James Jamerson and Paul McCartney,Etc., who don't need tweeters to make it happen. Remember different applications for different styles of music,but you're probably to young to have figured that out yet.
Wow, All I wanted was to ask a question about a three string bass, having never seen one. I would like to say I think the bass player for Miranda Lambert[Aden Bubeck] is a fine player and it looks like he is having fun. Sorry if I offended anyone.

not your fault. there's been alot of douche bagging on this site as of late.
not to knock anything anyone's said. but one comment was about doing my daily job...i do my daily job 8-10 months out of the year and bust my a$$ doing it so normal people like you can have a home to live in or just make things a littler nicer for your daily life. so yea i'm taking a little time off to relax as alot of people in my profession do this time of year. now anyway, as already stated everyone gets ragged on for their style in a band where it doesn't fit. what you're saying is it is most certainly not ok to make any kind of fun about this guy, but its ok to bust on geddy lee because hes established. like someone said, he's a gun for hire most likely and i'd be willing to bed that there is PLENTY of people here that could handle that job no problem. i dont think he has anything special over the next guy, it was most likely just who he knew which these days makes up a large percentage of who gets to play where and who gets to "make it". given the opportunity i would play with miley cyrus, its a gig where i get exposure, why not? i would expect to be torn apart at the seams by ever bassist out there as we're all so good at doing. all i said was there was alot of douche baggery on the stage, which i did get a compliment for(thank you). i didnt say his playing was terrible, i dont think anyone really did. and somehow this turned into a "he must be playing right to be in the band"...no one said anything about that, we're just saying the guy looks like a tool
Some people just seem like douchebags. And, they usually are. You can tell when a person is a genuine "nice guy".
