It looks from the pics that the SB is just all black with no accent around the edge. bummer.
I'm pretty sure it does! My '09 Epi is SB and has the accent, and if you look at the pic of the SB Pro on epiphone.com you can definitely see the accent.

It's not a Gibson, it's not an Epi and it's not officially even a bird, but I like to think of it as a Spector tribute to one of the coolest and most original body shapes Gibson ever came out with. This poser is pimped up with the holoflash finish. Someday I hope to find the perfect Gibson Tbird for me, until then, this will have to do.

OK, here I am gigging the Bird last night. Loving it! Am I in the club now?

You're totally there Kevin, # 307 on the roster, and thank you for the gig shot too!
Yes, I'm embarassed!
Absolute beauty except for the headstock, I don't really like the headstock shape though....![]()
I'm with ya on the headstock shape. The Tbird headstock, especially the one with the body color trim around the edge looks fantastic.
I've been sitting on the sidelines for a while looking at a number of Birds, played a few new ones (black goth style) in the guitar shops but I really don't know much about them. If I were to buy a Tbird and wanted to stay under a grand new or mint used condition, is there a "sleeper" model out there I should be looking for?
Good question............
1K and under 'Birds, some are rare therefore "sleeper" and well worth it.
-Greco, esp Thunderbird II - I've owned about 70 basses in my life, this by far and away the loudest, raunchiest most beastly sounding bass ever made.
-Orville, Gibson Japan, when you can find them, these are very nice QC set neck 'Birds, very nice!
-Epiphone "Elitest" again from Japan, I think the same factory as Orville, set neck but with different pups.
-Epiphone Pro, most every body loves these, a nice step up from the standard.
-Epiphone "Classic" These are just out, with Gibson USA pups - we're all talking about them!
-Burny, Pretty nice set neck Thunderbird, huge headstock, not for those of weak constitution.
-Cataldo, Carlo makes some great basses at a very reasonable price, check out the ones posted here in the thread.
Anyway there's a start, I've probably missed a couple too - It's Monday AM for my work week![]()
