I had one of the Epi Alpine White Thunderbirds. I actually really liked it a lot, though not as much as my Epi Elitist model, which is why I ended up parting with it. The humbuckers in the white one sounded pretty good to me in a loud rock band setting. Maybe a little muddy, but not bad. Massive low end. I don't personally know the difference in the pickups in the white Epi and the Elitist (both are guitar humbucker sized and have chrome covers, that's all I know), but the Elitist ones give that same huge low end while cutting through the mix more.

Additionally...and I mentioned this in the previous thread somewhere, but....since you seem to be into the chrome look, you can replace the black plastic pickup rings on your white Epi with these if so inclined: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] . They go right on with no modification, and it's a cheap cosmetic upgrade if you like chrome.

Hello fellow Thunderbird club members I'm after your advice.

After being inspired by some of the postings in previous parts of the club I've ended up with two Thunderbird inspired basses.

One, a fenderbird with an all maple neck built from parts. Pictures previously posted.

The other is a Westfield T-bird copy that no one seems to know much about. It cost me less than £80. ($130). I'm happy with the body and sound but the neck is a bit "chunky" .

I was thinking of replacing the neck with a left-handed maple neck because I quite fancy the look of a reverse headstock. The replacement neck would cost me about £15 less than the price of the bass. However, I would have to pay somebody to do the work for me.

Should I go ahead and have another fenderbird made?

Does anybody else have a Westfield T Bird copy?

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.

I know Big Gene isn't a Tbird guy, but I sure had fun with the Kiss thing. Not to mention that I put my first "love ding" in her finish. She's a family member now!!!:D

It's not a Gibson, it's not an Epi and it's not officially even a bird, but I like to think of it as a Spector tribute to one of the coolest and most original body shapes Gibson ever came out with. This poser is pimped up with the holoflash finish. Someday I hope to find the perfect Gibson Tbird for me, until then, this will have to do.

I just joined this exclusive club! I was cruising GC and saw an Epi Bird on the wall for $179.99. Sunburst, black pick guard. Wait a minute, black pick guard ? That's a Pro IV! I did not hesitate and bought it. It looks like an earlier model, maybe an 09 based on the serial number and the strap button was not on the heel. I installed strap locks and relocated the the button to the heel. Anyone who says a Bird dives never played one with the button on the heel. It balances perfectly and feels like "home". No pics yet, but I should have some later as I'm on the way to host a blues jam tonight and am bringing the Bird along with my new worn finished Epi EB-3.

Even if its not a true Bird, that is still an absolutely beautiful bass.
