Thunderbird Club Pt 6

Hey guys. I am hoping for some help from this particular thread. I am currently in the process of re-building an Epiphone Thunderbird into a Fenderbird. I picked up (dirt cheap thank you eBay) an Epiphone goth body, completely bare except the finish. It's been stripped and is at my local repair shop to have the neck pocket resized for the Jazz neck I am putting on it. I have a set of SGD pickups and his 2-band preamp I will be putting into it as well.

So here is my problem, the body did not come either the pickguard or cavity cover. The pickguard is easy, I can just pick one up and make it work fine. But no one has a control cavity template you can just buy. I was hoping I could get some assistance getting a tracing of the control cavity, preferably of the Epiphone Goth if possible. Look what I just got. I think it came out really good. I got it at Starlight Tattoo in Las Vegas about an hour ago.

Not sure what got into me but while surfing on my tablet last night I pulled the trigger on a Kelly Bird, $299.00 delivered. When I first saw them I didn't like the shape all that much but it has grown on me. What I really love about this bass is the flamed top and finish, I hope it looks as good in person as it does in pics! I did have a practical reason I am on a sub list for a 80's hairband tribute and I think this pointy headstock bass would be perfect, I don't even have to take a rig just grab a bass and show up.

No doubt about it this is a inexpensive bass, I am curious to see what Jackson can deliver at this price point. I had a SX '75 J bass that was at the very least equal or superior in many ways to the 70's Fenders I own. A impulse buy for sure but it sure looks fun!

That looks really cool! Like a cross between a Thunderbird and an Explorer.
