Personally, I'm "aware" of what I'm doing onstage and I do handle my 'Birds with care. That said, I've fallen down onstage with a '76, the headstock hit cymbal stand on the way down and I sure thought I was going to have a busted bass - ended up with a gouge in the paint - mojo.
The newer 'Birds are quite sturdy, not even and issue unless you're terminally clumsy - I'm sure you're not :)

I am but life happens when gigging. Straplock must have not locked well and it hit the floor for me on Saturday.

TBird1958, I too once tripped and hit the deck onstage!!!

Someone else knocks it off the stand, you hit a cymbal with your headstock on a tight stage, etc. life happens

I am careful with my Hofner basses, my T Birds and my Ricks. But yeah, things happen. My strap came undone once on my Rick at a gig, it fell to the ground, hitting the base of a mic stand face down. NOTHING happened to it, the bass even stayed in tune!!

I try not to by basses that I would get uncomfortable with leaving on a stand at a gig or playing at a gig.

Not stupid, my guitarist is decidedly not careful!!!!! Props his guitar wherever, eyc.

However, you can't sweat the little things. A guy on the Sadowsky thread wanted to keep the protective plastic and have it reapplied when it was worn. Man, they are meant to be played!!!! Unless it is a very valuable vintage instrument, then don't sweat it.

I just received my gibby NR Thunderbird a few days back.. What a great bass! And fixes a bunch of little niggles with the normal t bird, neck volute and hangs nicer on a strap!

Awesome sounding bass.. And as much as I had grand plans to change hardware (I have a chrome bridge but am missing the front body screw) and pickups, it really is a nice sounding and playing bass

The strap was a gift from my wife. It's a very well made and worth the money. She and I are huge fans. God bless Woody.
