Thunderbird Club Pt 6

Lemme ask a question. What is it about the Thunderbirds that you all like so much? I'm curious, not trying to troll or flame. They sure look different but what else do you like?

I like everything about my Tbirds. I have a Gibson Thunderbird, BaCH Non Reverse 'bird and a Fenderbird. It's very easy to achieve a variety of sounds out of all of them. From clanky goodness to a smooth low end. They are all very comfortable to play sitting or standing up. Excellent basses.

I love the idea of playing a Fender Precision, but they don't have what I want out of a bass. No hate towards Fender, I just can't get into 'em...

I'm thinking about getting plain black metal top hat / bell knobs to replace the stock ones. Anyone know the specs on the Thunderbirds so I know I'm getting the right ones? And anyone know a good source?

Hercules (hanging style)

Same here. Have a single, a triple, and about ten of the wall hangers. Use them for everything except my Kala.

Yeah, the Hercules are great. I have a few hanging in my living room. Just use larger screws in there. They give you pretty small ones.

Mark4 and others, does that include actual Thunderbirds or Thunderbird inspires models like the budget Epiphone stuff or ESP LTD Phoenix and others?

I've got an SG style bass already and really like that style bass so you could say I'm a bit of a Gibson fan. I love my ESP LTD Viper.

I like a lot of rock and I've been watching several Chevelle videos lately and their bass player seems to love his Thunderbirds.

Couple of gutted Epi Classics for sale on the bay right now. One sold for $74 already, but there are two more going for cheap. Cracks in the back of the neck behind the nut where the truss rod is breaking through a bit. would be a nifty project for someone. Nothing a little glue and clamping couldn't fix.

Dude, you've got to see the way he digs in on that video. Something about the style of play in there just fits the song. I'm just a beginner so maybe I just don't know but I thought that was cool.

I watched that video just yesterday, love the tone and the riff. It's what got me to ask about Thunderbirds. Read on Wikipedia that he uses a 35" model since Chevelle uses a lot of Drop C.
