Oh I wouldn't classify the EB-1 as "little-known" since it was Gibson's very first electric bass and they were still in the production into the early 1970s.
Well, I dunno... the fact that something was in the catalog forever doesn't mean it's well known. My impression is that for every person who knows what an EB-1 is, there are boatloads of folks who know what an EB-0 or EB-3 is. Now, I might be wrong... it probably depends on what slice of folks we're talking about...

Jack Bruce played an EB-3 which has another pickup near the bridge. That contributed a lot to his sound.
Of course you're right. This appears to be another case of brain damage. If we crank up the time machine and go back 40-some years, he's the guy I wanted to be... and I spent lots of time paying attention to what he did and how he went about it.

I s'pose I was focused on the idea of not bunching up 3 pups right smack dab next to each other... and got sloppy about remembering where I was and who might be paying attention to the details... because I obviously wasn't! Thanks for catching that...

I appear to be guilty of having accidentally hijacked a thread that has zip to do with this. I will shut up now so we can return to seeing and hearing about everybody's wunnerful Thunderbirds...

Well the EB-1 was a pretty good seller. Gibson sold a lot more of them than many other basses. Most folks have no idea what an EB-2 or EB-2D is either. Many good Gibson models have been overlooked. In fact it only took almost two decades for the Thunderbird to finally catch on. And to be honest, in the grand scheme of things, it still really hasn't.

And it seem that a whole lotta people insist in calling it an SG bass.
Even though it has been only recently that Gibson marketed such a model.

This dang TV here in my hospital room is only about 8", so I can't see a lot of detail.
I just saw Pearl Jam on Jimmy Fallon and it looked like their bassist was playing a sea-foam green Lullbird with a reverse headstock.
It looked cool.

Now, how in the hell could you tell it was a Lull on a dinky little screen that wouldn't let you see squat? Perhaps more importantly, do any of the nurses have a high babe-factor?

I have never seen so many HOT nurses in one place. And the female doctors are even HOTTER!!!
If you ever get rushed to the hospital in Seattle, make sure you get taken to Harborview, ED Blue.
And then hope you get Meghan for your nurse. If you need an IV ask for Casey (she's dang near painless) and hope and pray that your doctor is Dr Baumstick.
It don't get no better than these.

Question as well as some bump action.

Anyone know where I can find a cheap black saddle for the 3 piece bridge? like $10<. Any more than that and Ill start considering another entire bridge :rollno: Ill buy a whole black 3 piece bridge if thats all that I can find. I know some of you have the hipshot bridge...;)

Sure thing Porkbun!

I'd be happy to give you my old tbird bridge. One of the saddles is a bit messed up because it got stretched to fit a B string, but the other three are good. I'm in Western MA and have a good friend that works in Stamford. I'll see if he minds meeting up with you (I'll be seeing him tomorrow), otherwise I'd be happy to drop it in the mail for only the cost of shipping.

PM me and we can chat about an address or place to meet!

I picked this guy up today. I never liked Thunderbirds much, they always felt pretty wrong to me until about a month ago- I play one from time to time when I am in a GC or whatever, just to see if they still feel foreign, and one day it just clicked. So, that planted the seed, and when I saw a white one, I was sold. I didn't get it on the spot, and a day or two later, it was gone.

So, I thought it over for a bit, read up on them, looked through this thread, and decided to seek one out. I got a white Epiphone, this one is different than the white one I first saw- it has chrome pickups that are more like the EB humbuckers than the typical soapbars, and a chrome bridge and tuners. The strap button is also on the neck plate, which is nice.

It sounds great, the neck feels amazing. Fretwork is top notch. The finish is super good for the money. I spent some time tonight setting it up, but it was pretty good from the factory. Just needed a few tweaks to get it how I like it. I am very much looking forward to playing this thing with my band, it is a monster!

Awesome T-Bird. I've got one of the Silverburst Special Editions w/the same pickups. There were grounding issues with them and I finally had to run ground wires from the bottom plates to ground. After that, dead quiet.

Hope you love yours, like I do!

Bob

I had the chance to take a shot of my collection over the weekend.....To my dismay the digital camera's battery was dead so a cell phone has to suffice.
