Hi can I get a number please.

This is my T Bird. Her name is Eve ( got into the habit of naming my guitars, daft I know) & its Eve for lots of different reasons. But as you can see plain & simple. No changes yet or even planned.

The first bass I owed was a Epiphone T Bird. Had all the wiring, pots, nut & pick ups change (Seymour Dyncans) but still couldn't get the deep sound. So when I saw this as a B stock on a website I didn't have to think twice.

The sound is great & its just so fast on the neck to play.

Yes the BaCH NR Tbird is not 100% perfect. In all honesty I think the pots are crappy. And the tuners aren't great either.
But... the BaCHbirds were initially meant as a platform to be completed personalized/ customized by the 50 participants that I had gathered for the first series.
The pots are an easy fix that'll only cost you a few dollars.
Personally I haven't had any trouble with the tuners. Mine don't rattle and the hold their tuning. But I always recommend Gotoh Res-O-Lites that not only are super smooth but also very light. They help cure the hereditary neck dive.

The Artec pickups aren't bad at all. In fact, of the first fifty BaCHbird owners were pleasantly surprised by their sound beacuse we expected some generic humbucker. Actually, I prefer the Artec bridge pickup over the Gibson Bicentennial bridge pickup that I have on mine.

BaCHbirds are handbuilt in small batches of 25. Each batch has small differences. And some of them have minor flaws, such as wavy finish, or rubbing compound remains, or file marks on the side of the fretboard.
But I check each and every one of the BaCH guitars and basses that I sell. So far I have only returned 2 of them to BaCH because I thought they were not good enough.

Looks to be about the same vintage as my 2006 Rob. If so, did you change the hardware or is it an earlier model? Looks stunning.

I am here already! No. 65!! And thanks about the bass, it is one of my faves, a real keeper that one.

Looks to be about the same vintage as my 2006 Rob. If so, did you change the hardware or is it an earlier model? Looks stunning.

Mine is a 2007, when I saw it in the store, I had to have it!

I changed out all the hardware, the black was cool, but chrome just screams "classic!" And the Lull PUs are shiny too, so it is a perfect fit.

I've been down with a cold and I think the whisky got me through my Saturday gig!

A friend of mine, who is a pedagogue and Scotch enthusiast, sent me this in email:

"...why stop at a couple? remember MacIntosh, the forester for Elizabeth Grant of Rothimurchus who became ill, "drank a bottle of whisky and still died." What would be the point of limiting yourself then dying in your sleep? Think about it!"

...between a 'standard' Gibson Thunderbird and the 'studio' versions?

I ask as I've seen a few black 'studio' 'birds which appear to go for less money the standard models. Are they a different/inferior spec?

Different yes, inferior? No definately not.
The principle difference is that Studios are a set neck bass, the body is flat with no raised center block. They also use a different bridge and have a slightly smaller headstock. All in all, a great variation of the classic Thunderbird.

Sounds like they should, at least theoretically, have a slightly different tone, possibly with more sustain? Can't understand quite why they should go for less money: I would have thought it would be more...

They still have 34" necks don't they?
