Well I think I will jump on this baby for the moment...since there is one left in their stock and I have a buyer for my Stingray.
Strike while the Iron is hot kinda thing and the timing seems right.

IF Gibson releases that White LE, maybe I can roll another bass and obtain the funds for that one to keep this one company :D :bassist:

I am thinking this one is meant to be.

I all of a sudden got Tbird gas out of no where.
Then just stumbled across a store who had ONE of these left...
Got them to give me a better price.
Found a buyer for my stingray a day later.
AND it happens to be a LE edition to boot...bonus! :D
Looking forward to wrapping this all up and giving this Bird a test drive :hyper:

Bird-buzz...?

So I was going through some of my basses last night, checking on the set up and intonation, and I noticed that my Blackbird was a little bit noisier than the other basses.

Anyone else have a problem similar to this? I'm probably going to open it up tonight to check on the shielding, but I was just curious if this is a common problem.

Just dropped in EMG SSD's expecting it to be super trebly, but its even bassier than most of my active basses. I get grounding buzz from the tone knob every other time I take the bass out

Just dropped in EMG SSD's expecting it to be super trebly, but its even bassier than most of my active basses. I get grounding buzz from the tone knob every other time I take the bass out :eyebrow: weird problem that goes away when I touch the bridge

Are you using the recommended value pots? All your grounding correct, especially to the bridge?

I'd be careful there, while Thunderbird PGs all look the same, they definately are not.
Overall size, and screw hole placements vary greatly, Epi and Gibson parts do not interchange.

Ok, I took the plate off the back and found:
1) no shielding whatsoever.
2) tiny drop cap for tone.
3) bad solder joint between Jack and ground wire.

Really???

So, I re-soldered the ground wire, and replaced the drop with a PIO - oops, wrong capacitance. Still buzzy, too...

Looks like I'm gonna have to take it to my luthier friend for an overhaul.
