Update on my t-bird...

After trying a pio cap, which was too high in capacitance, I found a 473 ceramic cap at... Radio Shack!

Sounds good as new, but still a little buzzy - if I'm facing my amp (ugh). Anyone else with this problem? Suggestions???

Thank you, it's a bit gaudy and certainly not to everybody's taste - but it suites me and my band pretty well. I rotate thru most of my basses, taking two to each show, so it gets out :)

Yeah, I looked at the schematics - my bass is wired in parallel. I like the tone of the bass; the buzz is more of a shielding problem, usually coming from the underside of the pickups (hence the reason the buzz diminishes when I turn away from my amp). I know it's not a grounding issue, since that usually causes a reduction in the buzz when you touch your strings.

I'm probably gonna have to remove the pickups and shield the cavities, but I think I'll wait until I go big with some chrome Lull pups... Damn, these 'birds are like Harleys - you just never stop customizing them...

Ya man, like a lil kid waiting for the first snow flakes to fall ....hahaha!!
you got it right...
Been playing bass like 30 years and never once played a bird.
So this is kinda cool....greatly anticipated as ya can tell :D
Hope I take to her ....if not?
Someone on here will land what could very well be the last 2011 Gibson Limited edition Cherry Tbird New from the store for a good price :) hahaha!!
Stay tuned....dun dun dunnnnnn.

I'll look forward to your thougths about this bass, having never owned one prior I'm certain this will be interesting. One thing I'd caution about is the factory set up, Gibson really could do better here, so don't hesitate if you need a bit of help.

The best part of opening up a bass from Gibson? That "new bass" smell! :p

I look forward to it as well...tick tick tick time is passing and still no fedex guy ringing my doorbell...blaaah :scowl:

Will hit ya up to get advice for setting this puppy up.
If I take to it and love it...I was thinking about the chances of spending the $100 for one of those aftermarket Hipshot supertone bridges for Tbirds. Saw one on ebay for about $100 new.
And have read good things about them, to upgrade the stock Gibby bridge.
Who knows first things first :D

Installed a Hipshot Supertone a few weeks ago and LOVE it! I wasn't quite happy with setting up my Tbird with the stock bridge, but with the Supertone it was really easy :)

Was it a do it yer self job?
Meaning can a self proclaimed moron like me do it?
I just really stink at anything mechanical.
I thought I read it is a direct replacement though right?
Just unbolt the old one and bolt on the new one in it's place?
