Thunderbird Club Pt III

Well, i'm playing my first gig ever with my band at a battle of the bands here in montreal. Unfortunately, i won't have my bird. Too heavy and doesn't suit the songs on our list. oh well.

They're pretty basic and probably could be made but it's unlikely that anyone would want to for any reason other than retro repo. (for looks, not function)
Besides, just the thought of muting a T-bird seems absurd!

Why would that be any more absurd than using a foam mute on any other bass, such as a Precision?

Well I ordered some new hardware for my '79 Bird.

I'm getting a hipshot d-tuner and a set of Gotoh Res-o-lites for the other three strings.

I figured the added weight of the d-tuner wont be so bad with the weight of the other tuners being reduced by half.

Also got a Mod Bar to try out and a few miscellaneous screws that need replacing because they're stripped.

With all due respect and tongue firmly in cheek.., mainly an image thing I suppose. I think of flat-wounds and mutes on Fender basses (Motown etc) and roundwounds w/picks on T-birds (Mott the Hoople/The Who). Not sayin' one shouldn't (or doesn't) mute or finger-pick a bird, any more than one can and will round-wound pick a P, it's just that Fender as a sonic icon has that history and T-birds necessarily don't. Either way, it's all good!

Club soda, my band plays sunday @5h. its a battle of the bands thing so we're only on for 30 mins. tickets are 12$ and the event starts tomorrow from 11h-midnight. and then sunday from 12h-6h.

I have one of these, it's great. It's so loud, the pickups sound really good. I added a chrome hipshot supertone bridge and it was a great improvement in sound and playability.

Just got my Epi Tbird a couple days ago and it is now my favorite bass! I own a Squier Jazz Bass and this sounds so much better. I can actually hear a difference when i turn the volume and tone knobs! I was wondering how I can figure out what year it was made, thanks.
