92 Orville.
I bought a Thunderbird in 89 or 90 and it was my main live bass for quite a few years.Nothing sounds better than an old TBird thru an SVT in my opinion.Sold it around 2000 due to a wonky neck and have been a vintage Fender player since.Latest band is great with old Fenders but I really miss the T bird.Started looking for another about a 6 months ago but the price of 60's or 70's Birds in one piece is a detriment.Aware of Greco since the late 80's and when I would do a Thunderbird web search this thread showed up repeatedly.Decided to search for an Orville and I really fell for the white ones.Old Mott The Hoople fan.Anyway.This one will join the multitude of Fenders I own and if it sounds and feels the way I think it will I hope it will become my main player.Honestly the T bird threads in this forum were a huge motivator.

I have one Orville it is a really nice bass! Japanese QC = Awesome, it's set neck so a somewhat tighter tone overall than a Gibson, and while I like my Greco the Orville is the better bass IMO, I think you'll enjoy it a great deal - If you want some rings for the pups check frets on the net or Mike Lull.

Congratulations, I think that's a great score and definately one of the very best 'Birds you could buy!

So I tossed the 5 string idea and I'm gonna just hunt down an Epiphone neck for it.

Today I went outside and hung the body from a basketball hoop and sprayed it with white primer. This is my first "build" so I'm pretty exited. I'm having a blast with it so far. :D

It's gorgeous!

A lot like Dave's (PWV) in fact, I'm really glad to hear that you like it's tone and playing it :hyper:

The body shape and neck are taking a bit to get used to for me. However, the fact that it is so lightweight and balances perfectly really solved any issues with that. The tone is just knocking my socks off!

Maybe it's just the pictures - but are the Lull bodies smaller than Gibsons? I know they have tummy cuts and arm rests...

Side by side, my Lull and a '76 Gibson. They're pretty much the same except that the Lull is thicker - It's his first production piece, later production like the white beauties above are thinner.

Well I've spent about 15 minutes with it so far. It arrived in a box that was poorly packed and untaped. The bass was covered in condensation. The protective plastic has been peeled half way off the pickguard and backplate. There's buzz on about 20 frets, and the strings look rusty. It's gonna take a heck of a setup to make this thing playable.

That works for us! You shall have # 211 Good Sir!
We'll expect a short report from you once you've had some time with it.

And welcome ben0099 (#212) as well! Shjare your pics when you can guys!

This really doesn't sound good - like you got sent somebody else's return. These aren't so rare that you should keep it, that kind of dissatisfaction will likely cloud your opinion about this specific bass (with good reason!) so I'd take some pics and send it back to MF for another.

I was got some lights from MF that were clearly used. Sent right back for others with no trouble.
