this has become simply an unbelievable week now, my "BirdCage" has grown yet again, i purchased today an epi thunderbird pro IV, i have read so many good things on here about them i brought my Eden Nemisis to GC today to trade, and got me one; sight unseen and a HSC......i know you bird lovers wont let me down when i get all four of them together i will post!

Has anyone put a Hipshot Drop Tuner on a Gibson T-Bird??? Specifically, I have an '06 that I'm wondering about... Looking at Hipshot's site, it appears that a GB7 *might* work, but they are saying it replaces a Gotoh tuner, and not a Grover - like on my T-Bird... Still, the pictures make a Gotoh and Grover look very, very close to one another...

I finally got the brass nut on my Epi Pro IV filed and the action at the neck is a lot more manageable. The neck is flat (impressed with the 2-way truss rod) and the action pretty low. I still need to flatten the frets a tad but I had to play it for a while today to satisfy the urge. Before it was frustrating but now it is great and I am finally bonding with the bass.
Ok well ran across a deal on a used excellent shape EPI Goth Bird tonight so I had to pick it up to give the other one some company. you know I don't want Tweety seeing a puddy cat by it's self. LOL. anyhow being a goth with the flat or semi finish on it whats the best way to clean it?? I use dunlop guitar polish kit on my other basses and guitars and I used it on my Goth SG400 but wasn't impressed with the results of it is there anything else to use or can a person use windex or something like that on the finish to clean it? it has some smudges and stuff on it and just want to get it looking back the way it should. then I gotta get the white paint off of the tunner head apparently people don't know that you can't wear a bass threw a door way. all in all it's only a year old and is in excellent shape just I have OCD about what my basses look like the wife tells me.
For the past 3 months, i've been using martin and co guitar polish with some wool to get rid of the flat finish on the bass and make it look shiny, a glossy matte finish. It seems to work best, if you don't like how the dunlop treated your goth sg, maybe you should try another polish. there's no difference in how to clean your bass. Overtime, while playing it more, the sweat will rub on to the bass and make the flat turn to shiny matte.
I've used windex on my gloss basses when i ran out of guitar polish, it did the job. But it will ruin the varnish overtime if you continue using it. I'd go for pledge, it's specifically designed to clean wood, so that might work. Good luck,
