Thunderbird Club Pt III

Is it just me, or do certain epiphone thunderbirds have a tilt to the side headstock? I was at steves music here in montreal and they had 4 thunderbirds: gibson, epiphone iv, pro, and goth. I noticed that the goth was the only one that had a straight headstock looking at it from the front. the others had a sort of tilt to them.

Is there a reason why?

okay since we're talking cleaning, i got some questions, with that walnut/maple pro IV what do you use to clean and or protect the finish it doesnt seen to have any sort of "protectant" on the finish, its like sort of an unfinished wood. you use an oil or a wood wax or something....? i like it and its a really nice look i dont want it all messed up, ya know?

Does anyone know where I can get replacement mounting bolts for a black 3 point bridge??? Although mine are functional, the slots were a little chewed up when I got it, and I'm picky about that sort of thing... Also, one of my truss rod cover screws was brass, instead of black like the rest - I blackened it in with a sharpy, and it doesn't look too bad, but I wouldn't mind replacing that, either... I called Gibson, looking to buy replacements, and was referred to Allparts and Stew Mac, and told that Gibson doesn't sell hardware like that??? - I couldn't believe it... I searched both of them, and came up empty...

Anyways, if someone has any suggestions, it would be appreciated...

Lizard Spit Guitar Polish | Sweetwater.com

The owner of my local store said that Lizard Spit is the best polish for a flat finish on a guitar. That was a couple of years ago so it might have changed by now, but he said it wouldn't gloss the finish. Hope that helps.

I might be picking up another Goth on Monday. I have a Dimarzio Model One pickup that I want to put in the neck pickup location.

Bass looks great!^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I like the stainless steel parts, that guy does some cool stuff - the last time I bought a TRC from him it was cheaper than a Gibson plastic one.

Thanks, and you are right. I have purchased a few from him and they are top notch. This set did cost a bit more because it was the first set they made that wasn't just polished stainless, they grooved them to make them look like they are figured. You can see it on the TRC. Again thanks for the number. I've had the bass for 3 or 4 years now, been learning for a long time, I like the fact that it has it's own voice.

The stainless peices come from a gentelman on E-bay who shall remain name less.,But you can find him by using his E-bay name-990658.
There is also a gentelman who makes wood pieces at a very good price, on E-bay, who's name is 9346billc. He has made 2 custom guards for meof rosewood that are very nice.

I've forgotten his name but he's an ebay seller - He laser cuts Thunderbird PGs and TRCs from stainless steel. It's cool stuff, be careful tho as dimensions differ from Epi, Gibson etc. definately not one size fits all.

I got Gibson sized parts from him for my Nikki Sixx Mk.II and had them chrome plated, nice!

New 'Bird for me, one of 136 made in 1977-78. I bought one new in '77, traded it for a '77 Sting Ray in '83 and missed it ever since. Bought this one from the original owner last week. I'm cleaning it up and will post more pix when done. Original paint and unbroken.

Hokie smokes--that's got to be one of the prettiest T-Birds EVER--what a find!! Can't wait to see more pictures!:hyper:

I've tried one. the sub model anyway the ltd version. Sounds great at a fair price too (just under $500) they are battery powered except the ltd pickups aren't emg as opposed to the ESP phoenix II and LTD phoenix 1004.

Overall, they feel and sound great. i don't know if they neck dive, which i doubt very much, and i love the reverse headstock.
