anyway, one of them is starting to pop out. What should i do?

Also, how the hell do we adjust one of them correctly? My strings are @least 1.5 cm off the fretboard.

thx a bunch

Epi or Gibson bridge?

Same thing happend with my Epi Fenderbird. The string height was about 2 cm above the frets.

A Gibson 3-point bridge took care of it. You can easily find one on eBay.

Just pull the anchors, swab some glue in the holes and on the anchors and push them them back in (titebond or even elmers). Let dry overnite.

The 'secret' to the 3 point, especially the Epi is keeping it as level as possible so as not to pull out the anchors.

I have read posts on TB and elsewhere from other Epi owners that glued the inserts into the body. A friend of mine removed the insert from the body and used super glue to fill in some of the grooves around the outside of the insert. Once he built it up in several spots, he reinstalled it in the body. Essentialy he just made the insert fatter so it would be a tight fit in the hole. No issues since then. It's cheap (I think super glue is around $1 a tube) and easy to do. I would try that before spending the money on another bridge. Good luck!

Here's a shot of my Epi, it's had the original inserts removed and replaced with Gibson parts - notice that the insert is countersunk into the body further and has no lip around it. this allows the bridge to sit lower as well. Close inspection of the various 3 point bridges will reveal that they aren't all the same.

Well guess I give up my number to some other TB'er.
#167 can go to whoever might like it.
I sold off my Cherry LE Bird today :(
Might end up with another at some point.
Timing was not right.
Thanks for the initial input & advise!!!
And happy 2012 to all :)

I'm in if'n you'll have me.Mine is assembled from collected epiphone parts. The body is a beater that i got here,it was stripped and primed when i bought it.I just spray bombed it with 57 chevy tropical turquoise dings, dents and all.The neck and p.u's are epi standard issue.I'll post a pic of the pile of parts later today.

Here's a pic of the body.I sprayed it last night with a 3 oz.testors model master 57 chevy tropical turquiose spray can.

:D

As someone that enjoys both, women's clothing and Thunderbirds I like this pic. Nice bed cover and Thunderbird.
If that was Enamel that you sprayed, let that set up for awhile, like a week before you handle it. Some kind of clear poly overcoat would likely help too.

Here's our roster, you're #203. Welcome and lets see more pics of the 'Bird as it comes together.

While i'm thinking of it could you or some here please measure an epi t bird pickguard for me ?I just need the top long flat side measurement where the pickguard rests against the raised center. That paint is a lacquer that drys quickly.Comes in litle 3oz. cans made for model cars. They have some cool hot rod colors from ford ,chevy, chrysler and dodge. The body is nowhee as nice as it looks in the pic. it's beat up!

I didn't realize Testors had laquer as well, much better!
I made a custom PG for my Epi so it was easy to measure the original, it 9 3/4" across the top long straight edge - including the bevel.

I still owe you guys a review of the Mike Lull T4. Kind of a crazy week that negated pics and then our guitarists injured his arm so no practice to try it out in a band setting.

I can say that as the week has gone on, I'm really starting to love the sound of this bass. I've only been playing through my Mesa Walkabout Scout 12 combo, but it is really pumping out some low end while staying extremely tight and focused. In fact, I'm enjoying it so much I am in a bit of a quandary. I play in 2 bands, one in standard tuning and one in D. Thus my basses are set up for one or the other. I honestly want to use it in both, so I'm kind of stuck!!!

I am still getting used to the neck. The profile I honestly don't love. I think I can get used to it though.

Very cool! Can you post some more pics of the bass? How does the B string sound with those pickups?

OK here are a few more pics. Sorry for the poor quality. The more I play this bass, the more I like it. Its funny how people respond to it. Something about a 'Bird! I'm really liking these pups. They really capture that grindy tone I was going for. Now all I need is a SVT and 8X10...the B string is suprisingly tight! A real big full sound and pretty well balanced with the rest of the strings.
