This is my '79 Gibson Thunderbird that I bought last month here on TB. I love it! It's nice and light and the tone is killer!

These Thunderbirds just make me wish I had mine so much quicker Will be ready for June! As that is my birthday. I love Epiphone pros as well though. There's something about wood stripes down the middle that I love, maybe it's just what I've been brought up around

Mike Lull was on Art Zone with Nancy Guppy with the Lull/Ament JAXT4....Pretty cool interview and Mike demoing the bass through his trusty Redhead I think we've all played through (those of us lucky enough to live close by) at one time or another.

I took a few better quality pictures of my new Epiphone Thunderbird in Alpine white. I really love this bass. Drastically different than my P and J Basses, but sounds perfect in a three-piece band setting. Really fills out the sound.

While I'm pretty happy overall with the sound, I am considering possibly upgrading the pickups at some point. The Thunderbucker 66's seem reasonably priced. Anybody have any experience with those? What do you think?

Snowblinder, NICE bass! I was thinking the same, get a white Epi and put Thunderbucker 66s in it. Go for it! I have read good things about those PUs.

Speaking of white birds, well sort of - more like white bird guitars... I just saw that washburn is gonna release a white paul stanley t bird guitar. It appears to have a little extra cutaway on the top bout, and a vintage tailpiece with paul stanley star cut into it...

Not giving any opinion here - I'm just saying...

Finally get to use the Lull T4 at rehearsal tonight. This band is alt country/rock/blues/new orleans, so it should be a good test across varying styles.

My guitarist has a little Hartke rig for convenience, but I think I'll bring my Mesa Walkabout Scout for a better test amp.

I put the '66 Thunderbuckers in my 5 string studio. So far I like the sound of them and they were a direct replacement. No fuss, no muss! Good luck.

How's the low B on the 5'er with the Thunderbuckers compared to the stock Gibson pups?

I was fairly impressed with the B as it was. It is really very tight and pretty well focused. The Thunderbuckers I got were made for 5 strings and the B is Thunderous!

Well, the Lull T4 killed at practice. What a great sounding bass! We worked on a few things from a 6/8 "Louisiana" blues to a funkier one in the original dept along with a swampy version of the Stones "Beast of Burden". The T4 sounded great on all of them.

Just last week got my T-Bird..

Anyone got and spare chrome bridge parts? Or an entire assembly (Gibson, not Epi..), really all I need is the studs.

And looky that.. It DOESN'T NECKDIVE.. After everysecond guy told me 'oh, TBs are no good the neck dive, you let go of the neck and it will plummet to the floor..' BOLLOCKS..
