Waiting patiently for my Classic. May 27th came and went. Sweetwater charged me last Monday. Should be on its way soon I assume.

Here are some shots for you. I haven't had a chance to really clean the bass up yet, so please ignore the dust.
I need to get it restrung and setup to my preference, plus the fret ends could use a slight sanding. It's lighter than my regular Gibson Bird (7.4 lbs vs 8.4 lbs) and sounds great. It will be even better once it gets tweaked.
My old and new-again-to-me Epi Elite 'bird with freshly added Supertone Bridge, Hipshot Ultralites, and chrome humbucker surrounds. The "in-between" owner added the Gibson trussrod cover.
The surrounds aren't as nice as the more vintage looking rings but for $21 shipped for both, I really can't complain too much.

The chrome rings look much better than the black plastic ones did. I have a Supertone on my Gibson Bird. I am very happy with the upgrade.
Am I the only one who has had to epoxy the inserts? Ive had two supertones and both required me to epoxy the inserts. Its not a big problem for me, but it its a bit annoying for a bolt on upgrade.

I haven't had any issues with the inserts on my Gibson. I've heard of that happening more with the Epi models.
I hope the new classic IV pro series comes out with a gothic model, same design and features as the epi goth bird. I'd jump on that.

Ah so mostly an Epi problem. Perhaps next time Ill try some washers on the screws. I think its because theres space between the bridge and insert. The upgrade is still more than worth it!

i'm really jealous, the gibson BlackBird is really hard to find were i come from(and that The Netherlands) that why i gott the Epiphone one, that a killer bass to.

My guess is it is custom for him, but you could easily just buy a stock gibson bird and repaint it red and add a black guard.

My dad had one until 2004-2005. The bass sounded and looked killer. If he hadn't sold it, he would've definitely given it to me. I love thunderbirds and Nikki Sixx.
