Thunderbird Club Pt.IV

I will have to teach myself about the intonation and placement of the neck and and bridge. I am thinking on a Hipshot Replacement bridge for the Bird. Thank you Carlos and TBird1958 on the reply about the neck.

I have been thinking a long time on this project too, a long time over a year. Untill a week ago I took the plunge and got the body. I have a plan to paint it the colour of my old Firebird that I have owned for 24 years brown and gold on the body with the bottom 3rd gold with a 3 tone strip the seperates the two colour. The hardware will also be gold including the knobs that go to 11.

jumbodbassman, Let me get this strait. From nut to bridge it should be 36"?

34" from nut to bridge approximately. Easier to measure 17" from middle of 12th fret.

In addition to shaving the sides of the neck I also undercut at the heel as well, much like the Epi. I marked fret locations with tape as reference points so I could check to see how much material to remove.........

I can't say enough about this bass, other than you will not be sorry. Carlo does great work and I will be buying a second one. The pickups give me the tone I need. Carlo even sanded the finish off the back of the neck for me! It is the little things like that which I appreciate.

I like the feel of the bolt-on, Fender style neck. I have a Lull T4, which is essentially Mike Lull's version of a Fenderbird. For me, I love the unique tonal quality. Plus, it's light, balances great, etc.

I'm sure some guys with both could give you more info.
