Thunderbird Club Pt.IV

Can somebody tell me whats so good about thosh fenderBird?

Is IT the neck or feel or what ever

What makes a up a Fenderbird in the original sense is what sets it apart, they were made for JAE by his luthier Peter Cook. So, a Thunderbird (or custom ) mahogany body with the original '60s era pickups plus a Maple Fender P bass neck - you get the tone of the pickups plus the characteristics of a bolt-on neck design and a Maple neck. No other bass at the time could offer those ideas in one bass.
Mike Lull's T-4 is essentially a Fenderbird, but Carlo (TBer Dadigoboi) builds a faithful Fenderbird based on Peter Cooks designs - Highly recommended.

Went to see Ministry live yesterday, and noticed their bass player Casey Orr was playing a cool looking Thunderbird type bass, as seen on the attached picture...

Does anyone have an idea what kinda bass Casey is playing?

Although it looks similar to a Cataldo bass, I'm pretty sure it's not a Cataldo bass, as it has a different headstock...

Here's my t-bird, it's an eipiphone gothic IV, it was my first bass. I doubt I'll ever get rid of it. May I join the club please?

I played a used one at Guitar Center last weekend. Smooth sound, nice feel. All around a great bass.

And so I caved in to temptation and bought myself a Gibson Thunderbird IV bass.

To own a Gibson made Thunderbird bass has always been a dream for me ever since I start playing bass.

But in order to achieve this dream, and to "appease" the wife (lol!), I had to sell off a 14-years old Ibanez Soundgear, a 1-year old Ovation semi-acoustic guitar, an 8-years old Epiphone Thunderbird bass, a just 6-months old 5-string Ibanez soundgear, plus a Zoom multi-effects pedal.

Selling off those gears were also a way to raise some money to get this baby too. And I have absolutely no regrets making that sacrifice to achieve getting the Gibson Thunderbird IV.

An absolute beauty and I just totally love playing it!

Hipshot ultralites 3/8 i believe. They fit but really just barely. Is your tbird a gibson or epiphone?

These are some Hipshots in black on my '89 before I changed out the hardware to chrome...........The clovers are just big enough that when they are all in line they will not pass each other. Still your best solution tho.

Seems a bit like a pain in the ass that they wil not pass each other.
I'm just saying way not stick with the originel tuners?
Nice and light, just overall good tuners right?
