Well, I might be wrong here but adding a T-Bird pickup(s) to a P-bass could make the headstock more fragile and make the whole bass more prone to diving. And muddy, yes.

Ha!!!

I do like having the blend between the P pup and humbucker, but I just know a TBird type pup would be the way to go.
 
It's dawned on me I have some big iron in the basement, I'll do a demo with a Marshall or Sound City soon.

Please do! If you have the Hiwatts around use them for the cleans and Marshall for the overdrive.
Anyway, the bass sounds great and T-bird pickups are really perfect for an octave stringed bass.
