I did have a bone nut installed and put on GHS Pressurewound Half wounds

It's 9lbs on the dot, not that bad. No way this is mahogany or anything similar.

Still need new electronics though, thinking double stacked-pot and lace sensor pickups.

Nice! I have the Pressurewounds on a couple basses that will never have anything but those on them. I love those strings, but wasn't what I was looking for on any of the Thunderbirds, sadly.

I'll brag more on the VPs. I have a '64 and could play that and nothing else and be happy. Nothing like it. Nothing. But if I didn't have that, I could play the VPs as main basses and be happy. I like them that much. If I couldn't have/play the '64, it would be the VPs on that desert island.* Part of why VPs sound good is they have the PUs in almost the correct position of the 60s. Much closer than other offerings. (What was Gibson [not] thinking?) That placement is part of the magic. The PUs are great as well. Have the punch, but not all the bigness of the 60s, thus Boomers gets it pretty close. But amp's do have knobs, so more lows can't easily be had.

Some of my best birds are Eppis. Rock that beast and welcome to the club. Our Queen should be by shortly to give you a member number if you want one.

edit: looks like the Queen has knighted you already, Veronica is amazing at staying on top of this fast moving thread.
