Thunderbird Club

Not only is Green not so green, it’s rarely even black and is frequently red.

Unfortunately, I’ve been out of the Power Plant field long enough now I don’t think I have any serious engineering contacts left. But at the end of the day, if you can find a way to spin a turbine nonstop 24/7/365 then you’re half way there. The other half of the picture is minimizing the by product or finding a good use for it.

I would think Micro would offer some interesting advantages by being more localized, less capital intensive and having less transmission losses in the distribution systems. It’s an interesting time to be in the Energy business as long as you can successfully navigate through the politics and special interests.

Until Gibson comes up with an acoustic Thunderbird I’ll need an electric outlet to plug my amp into, so hats off to you good sir for thinking out of the box on power generation improvements for the future!

Politics ruins everything.

Last year I was working at a 'green' company; removal of CO2 from stack gas. No one wanted to discuss thermodynamics and the conservation of energy - any energy you get out of the product came from somewhere. There is no free lunch. But the CEO had no problems misrepresenting what could be done (probably because he didn't understand), then expected everyone else to cover for him. My reputation is more valuable that anything they could pay me.

I left as I uncovered unethical behaviour that was threatening to become criminal.

And yes, it's a sixties reverse IV. Looks like black but most likely is a sunburst.

I did a little bit of work with P&G in Cincinnati; we sold software they used for editing and documenting PC programs on the factory floor. Getting to see the lines up close and personal was kind of cool.
Production factories that make even the most uninteresting product are engineering wonders. I watch "How It's Made" and get caught up on thinking about all the work designing the facility to made a roll of toilet paper. It's fascinating to me. Too many engineers in the family I guess.

Some footage from a show I played last week. Audio is just from the camera, VP into Hiwatt DR103 into my customized Vox 4x12.

Fantastic! I could sit through a whole evening of that and come back the next night. Anytime is Blues time! I thought Thunderbirds were for rock and roll....

Tell the guitar player to cut those strings or you'll smack with with that big headstock!

So you backed up and left.

Joking aside, good on you for doing so.

There is hope for music, maybe. I watched a recent interview with Al and Geddy where Geddy said that he saw where 70% of youth are listening to music from “our generation” (his words, pointing to himself and Al), and was astounded by that, and added that this “was some condemnation of the state of music today.”

Definitely. I'm going Thurs. to watch my guitarist's kids' band play. His son plays a really cool NR copy.

The Strombo interview.

I loved the bird watching discussion:
Geddy - You can watch birds anywhere
Strombo - They are the dinosaurs amoungst us.
Alex - And they are delicious!

A (large) number of years ago, when I was downtown working at an investment bank, I was returning from lunch. Some activist/charity people were all over the sidewalk doing some sort of awareness/collecting for some kind of vegan/vegetarian program. They asked as I was passing "Do you love animals?" I replied "Yes, they are delicious!" and kept walking.

Slapped some NPS Roto 66s on the NR. Sounds amazing at home. I'm hoping it sounds as good at practice tomorrow night.

Something old something new. (Ignore the dog sheet.)

I've got Roto RS66's on mine too, I just started playing rock here again so I think I'll be putting a new set on it. I've had the same ones on mine for about 6 months now and I've played it quite a bit, they're getting a little tired although they still do sound good with a pick. Quite a difference from the old days when they went dead in a month, I don't know how much of that was my heavy hands or just that they're made a lot of better nowadays. I can remember when a lot of players used to boil them , I tried it a few times and they got their zing back for a few gigs at best so figured it was a waste of time.
