Thunderbird Club

Sounds nice - I need a road trip up north.

Washington's coast doesn't get the play the Orygun and Cali do, but I can tell you it's incredibly beautiful, rugged, scenic with many unspoiled locations. Of course some Thunderbirds are available to play and the welcome mat is out.....

At Pt Townsend.

At La Push, there were some (lunatics) guys out surfing in this! Very cold!

This is a Seastack, they're common along the coast.

A face that not even it's mother loved, a preserved 3 truck Lima built Shay logging locomotive at Forks, (yeah, the one from "Twilight")

Ya ever see one of those in operation? I spent a day at Cass, WV, in the early 80s watching and riding behind them.

It all looks very "theatrical" - like stage-sets. (theater of war?) We have similar physical remittance of that time all along the Peninsula (in Pacifica and just south) & SF proper coast. It's a reminder of a not-that-distance past. But nothing compared to Normandy beach though, where war was fought man-to-man. When I was there in the late '80s - there was still bits of rusting barbed-wire on the beach.

Longues-sur-Mer Battery is located between Omaha and Gold Beach

They're still surfing out here too and we're halfway through fall. The waves here are REALLY strong, scary strong. I like to body surf but after getting tossed around a few times and being completely at the mercy of the ocean all the way in and being lucky I didn't break my neck I've decided to leave that to more gentle places like Massachusetts beaches.

I don't like being cold, and have a decided aversion to drowning, so it's a solid nope for me!

And still the people of Normandy paint their roofs red, white, and blue. They have not forgotten. I was there around 95 with a client whose father was rescued by the French and hidden in Normandy so the Nazis wouldn't find him. He visits that family anytime he is there.
large expat community there, i’ve often considered property there….Normandy RULES..

We had a very successful first post-Covid, newish drummer at an Elks Lodge gig Saturday. The Elks was very accommodating, the drinks very reasonable, all in all a great time. I saw a lot of videos/photos being taken, so I'll get something up here when I get it.

The only semi-negative I received was that my Pbass (Set 1 only) was not as clear sounding as my ThunderP, so I'll probably use the mid setting enhancement of my Spark next time. Only glowing comments for the TP. Looking forward to next time out. Apparently 70 year olds are still capable of representing in a Hard Rock trio (plus a vocalist).
