The volume balance across my VP strings is good. If anything the E is a bit boomy with some strings but not with others.
You’re right about the bridge, I forgot the saddles and screws are a fixed assembly.

Out of curiosity, what’s the air gap between the top of the pickup and the bottom of the strings on your VP. I have my pickups raised fairly high.

All strings measured at neck pickup midline:
E: ~3/32"
A: 4/32"
D: just under 4/32"
G: just over 2/32"
