Thunderbird Club

You've been keeping us hanging on this one George.
Squirrel Jazz base?
Looks like it might be a keeper, if so she might get a pup augmentation job…

Epi Goth's are good as platforms if you can get one cheap enough. Last full Epi Goth I bought (on eBay) was had for $250. They list for at least double that these days. Necks were $50 or less not that long ago.

Tell them to watch for me in Burlington - incredibly cool, middle-aged guy yelling "Freebird!"

Never seen them live but I love their videos and music. I suspect they put on an energetic show.

....hopefully the link works (correctly-ish) this time.....:banghead:

Probably have to have instagram to see the vid, i think.

.....it sends the app to the wrong vid, but the correct one when using chrome...:rollno::bored::rage:

…and that’s the trick.

Had to look long and hard to find one in decent shape that was under $200 including tax and shipping. It passed the visual and play tests and actually sounds pretty good, tomorrow I’ll check under the hood to see if anything has been boogered up in the control cavity or truss rod area. The tuners are a bit sloppy and the bridge is sitting high in the rear but the action is good and the neck looks straight. Not particularly fond of the light fretboard wood but I think it’s Pau Ferro and it feels nice.

I really like the functionality of the dedicated stacked vol/tone pots for each pickup and I know from previous mods on other Goths that 500K pots with .022uf tone caps works really well with the stock pickups and cobalt flats, so I’ll most likely go that route with a four pickup configuration. I might also try to liven up the monochrome look a bit with some gold accents.

under $200 - on craigslist? (not found on eBay anymore for that sort of cost) I would have bought it for that. But all I would salvage/use is the body and neck.

Actually, Guitar Center. $270 asking minus a bit in dealing and a bit more with a $75 gift card.
It’s getting really hard to find these in pristine shape for under $400, many are asking $500 or more. I think GC still has another one for about the same price.

This kind of augmentation?

LOL - the BlingBird was endowed with the trifecta, this one may end up in full Qudraphonic.
I love my single pup birds, and adore my dual pup birds, but got a taste of forbidden fruit with my three pup bird, so why not go all the way with a four pup beast - and what could be better than a Goth to carry that torch!

Why stop there? You could probably squeeze in a bunch of stacked humbuckers.

I'm a long-time Thunderbird lover/player.., and I personally wouldn't express my "optimism" in that manor. Everyone has to look at themselves in the mirror every night.
I understand. We all do things others would never consider. Asking isn't a sin. Who knows, it might be worth that to someone. People pay money for things I never would all the time. Popular musician making more more money than having common sense comes to mind. Which leaves all of us out, for sure. Fortunately the buyer is in charge. Like it, make an offer. If not, walk away. No harm, no foul.
