Thunderbird Club

I saw discussions of tires, but I don’t feel like reading through it all before putting in my two pennies… anyways, I’m a huge fan of Continental tires. Have them as my “winter” (all seasons), summers, even on one or two of the classic cars.
One tire I have never tried. Settled on Michelin years ago after a lot various sets and stopped considering anything else. I used to get Monarch tires for my '76 Cordoba years ago and loved those. I have no idea who made them of if you can still get them.

My favorite car. Had a half vinyl roof, but you can't tell it.

We may have a recruit in progress if the bass he's looking at turns out to be legit.
Is this Thunderbird on sale near me legit?
That’s a great deal unless the neck is wrenched. Or it’s hot.

It’s too bad someone felt that thread was the appropriate place to drop a Babicz rant. I’m speculating, but I don’t think that poster understands how they work and whether or not he should have removed the shim underneath the bridge before resorting to a lot of filing and polishing. That’s the only time I’ve heard of someone doing that.

For me it’s Hoosiers in a straight line, Pirellis on the track and for street performance. Had horrible luck with Goodyear (street, off road and track) and wasn’t impressed with Michelins on the track. I’d consider Michelins if I had a family sedan or a mini van, they seem to ride smooth and quiet on the road.
Tried Goodyear several times before I concluded I'd be (more) stupid if I tried them again.

Exactly why I keep going back to Michelins.

Meh. He has his opinions. They are fine for him to have. He is wrong of course. I hope th OP in that thread got that Thunderbird and will join us.

I don't recall ever hearing of a Thunderbird with a twisted neck. Broken headstock of course, but that isn't a huge big deal.

Wheelies or a bike?
Wheelies mean I only use one tire. Stoppies do the same. The rear tire came up regularly on the track in certain places.

A friend was behind me on the track one day and was laughing about how long the back tire stayed up about a foot when a slower rider cut me off. That was on Pirellis. I didn't even register that it was off the ground.

I don't do either one on purpose.

Good afternoon, I was playing today some funk vibes in the Thunderbird, cheers!

You can't play funk on Thunderbirds. They are one trick ponies and are only good for hard rock. We must keep the myth alive. ;):D

Nice playing!

EDIT: I see PillO beat me to it. Can both of us be wrong? No need to answer that.

I am a Michelin advocate, track & road. (not straight-line long-milage/touring road) I know how to ride them and they've never let me... 'down'. ;)

You can't play spy music on it either...

or Disco….

Or Big Band...with dreaded bass solo

:bored:Thanks guys, you’re completely destroying the Tbird “one trick pony myth” and the “neck diver myth”. If you keep on posting this nonsense everybody and their brother is gonna want a Tbird…stop it! Before you know it, all the used birds will double in value and I’ll never be able to afford another one. ;)

All joking aside, just a couple of years ago you could get a nice used Greco bird for around $500 to $600. Then word got out about what great basses they are, now you see them frequently priced between $1200 and $1500. Go figure.
