Then I'd blame the SVT. "Does not work well with others." Don't you have a GK?Same. Definitely the pickups
Yeah I have AGK I've tried all kinds of different things thanks and the bottom line is this particular one base job killer 1 base just doesn't sound the way I wanted to sound it can only be the pickupsThen I'd blame the SVT. "Does not work well with others." Don't you have a GK?
Your name implies that you're from Brooklyn I'm Brooklyn? Do you still live out there? Then I'd blame the SVT. "Does not work well with others." Don't you have a GK?
I heard/saw a Vic Wooten clip where he's playing a pretty simple funk-style groove, and I know he plays w EMGs. Similar 'dirty', punchy sound. Like an old humbucker but without the 'woof'. Really cool.
I've just discovered two really good examples of EMGs, really like what you can get with them. I actually had a PJ set years ago, and when I dug in I got a nice crunch.Looking for a experienced advise. I have to change the pups on my 18 gibson t bird. Its just too damb muddy, even compared to my 13.
I do not want to go the thunderbucker route, I like a modern tone. Im not getting crappy China buckers.
I'm looking at emgs. I have emgs pjs in every bass other than my thirds. Maybe the passive ones or the PJ thunderbird pups? I like the idea of staying passive.
Anyone here tried these ?
Well I love my emg pjs that I have in other basses, warwick, spector, inanez, charvel, ect. I kinda hope the tbird version are the same. I just rediscovered this through @Chucky Stiletti and a Wooten vid I saw recently... I'll see if I can find it.
Don't know if that's what you're looking for, but it's pretty cool.
Dirt and punch, less woof/murk...
Yup!Your name implies that you're from Brooklyn I'm Brooklyn? Do you still live out there?
I use to come there all the time and go to Duffs bar. Thats my favorite place. Thinking of cruzing out again soon if NYC has chilled out.Yup!
Ah, cool. Never been there.I use to come there all the time and go to Duffs bar. Thats my favorite place. Thinking of cruzing out again soon if NYC has chilled out.
You should go!Ah, cool. Never been there.
Maybe next time you're out here! You should go!
Ok then you're set, which is great because I can't find the clip!...Well I love my emg pjs that I have in other basses, warwick, spector, inanez, charvel, ect. I kinda hope the tbird version are the same. A pj set in tbird housing
I have not tried EMGs. If you do, I will be interested in what you think. I had Chinabuckers in the Flamingo and found them ultimately lacking in both top and bottom frequencies. Thunderbuckers are much more full spectrum, clear, and aggressive. I haven't done any kind of comparison to the stock pickups on the '01 because they are strung with different strings.Looking for a experienced advise. Lulls and Thunderbuckers can have black covers if I remember right.Sounds great, ill bet that GK has alot to do with that too. I dont want chrome nor old school sound.
For my jazz cocktail ensemble? LolI have not tried EMGs. If you do, I will be interested in what you think. For the kinds of music you play, I am not sure any of them would be quite right. EMGs might be perfect.
I am getting a ferocious angry piano snarl from the Flamingo now even with fingers. The strings are EBCFs. Hit the bright switch on an old ACC amp and it takes no prisoners whatsoever.Y
It's sounded great. Your right on far as the gibson pickups. For some reason this bass has always sounded dark and muffled. The tone is disconnected and the strings are rotos. I run svt 4s into 810s with a sansamp for drive. I've always felt something was wrong.
