Thunderbird Club

Both are still made today, you can get Glasspacks and M-80s (the fireworks too!)

When I went to school in CT, we'd just drive up to New Hampshire and buy boatloads of fireworks.

In Washington, it's technically illegal to have them, but you can buy them on the Res, and just not get caught setting 'em off.

We used to do the same thing except we were a lot closer. M-80's now those things were loud.

All this Cherry Bomb talk calls for some theme music.

Kim fowley was a DJ on Underground Garage for a while, Van Zandt has had some cool DJ's, Andrew Loog Oldham was a DJ there for a long while. Kim was a weekend guy but Andrew had a regular weekday rotation. He follows me on Twitter and has actually responded to a few of my tweets.

He was pretty cool:

I think so. Only noticed the silver one once I strung it up.

Would make sense cause I had a set of
Super brights. On some bass I had and now gone, and these were them.
I took them off because they had lost the brightness I liked so much.

But, as great as these sound,
There was the topic a short while ago that Ken spoke of. Or responded to.
About how rounds sound scooped.
And to me, they do.

I’ll spare you all why I still love flats over rounds.

Try Rotos, RS66's. You get used to the roughness pretty quickly.

I know you know this so I post this just for general info in case someone doesn't know but most of my basses have .047 uf caps too except for my 1996 RI 62 Fender Jazz, it was still way too bright with the tone rolled all the way off, I opened it up and it had a .022 uf cap, I then tried a .047 uf cap which still didn't shut off the treble enough so I put in a 0.1 which did the trick and the nice thing is that it is just as trebly when wide open but very deep when closed. All it did was make the control "faster" with much more range. 0.47 uf are very common in a lot of different basses. I like "fast" controls anyway, also like "fast tuners". The new Fender dinky tuners are way too slow for me but that's what comes on most of them though. The little Hipshot tuners on the NR seem to have a more traditional ratio though and I like those.
Much knowledge of electronics is something I never acquired. Some players really know this well and some people are super players and know little about it. I'm neither.

That was me that initially mentioned rounds tend to sound scooped compared to flats. Poorly worded on my part. Better said: Flats are more balanced across the freqs than rounds is my experience. Many rounds to my ear have a dominate mid that's either low-mid, mid-mid, or upper-mid, whereas most flats seem to not have the dominance of certain mids (contra TIs), as rounds to my ear. Generally.

Used to have this Lakland. Kept wanting to like it but it moved on years ago. One thing that is fantastic about them is the dip switches where you can pick which mid freq you want to cut or boost. Why more don't do that I don't know, but it's a cool tool to have on hand. Perfectly balanced and made extremely well. Never really liked the neck, which was thin from front to back and never felt "right" to me.

+1

Was just about to pull the trigger on this order. Sadly my wife got laid off and my health insurance is costing me $1500 per month. Thanks Afordable Care Act! More layoffs coming. Greatest economic comeback in history....

Words obviously won't make it better, but I sincerely hate to hear the sucky news.

Warning: no TBd related.
I could have chosen to receive the bass at home, but as I love aviation, I ask to pick it up at the carrier's warehouse (freight is cheaper too); here we go:

Hey Icefly Tudu Bem!
I have family in Canoas (near Puerto Allegre) and back in the 80's we flew all over Brasil from that area up to Manaus and back! It was an experience as some of those jets were like 20+ years old and not exactly a "smooth" flight but an adventure none the less. I wonder if we frequented some of those lovely old dirty birds in the pics lol
Just out of curiosity where were those pics taken?
