Thunderbird Club

To elaborate: The amp is ~6' behind me. The controls are on top rear. I set it with a sound I liked-'til we all got playing. It's nearly impossible to get to the amp to make adjustments during a set, so I f---ed* with EQ on our breaks. I think the amp stand I was using was the wrong one for that room. Oh well, we weren't exactly makin' musical history tonight. (translation: nobody but me GAS what I sounded like)

But even if no one gives a flip, sounding good is right behind playing good in my book. But sounding awful while playing great can still come off like poopie. = No joy.

On a coupla semi-serious notes, the amp(Rumble100-my "go to")was in a corner almost right against the wall(s). It was on a low tiltback stand*, and my hearing isn't all that great. I only use the neck pup with tone ~7-10 [need some '11' knobs]. There's a distinct possibility that that both volume pots are less than perfect. Something I should have 'looked at'-by someone who knows wuttinnahell they're doing. Because I had a lotta :poop: to set up besides my amp(also providing and running the PA)-and the fact it was storming(as in FL afternoon monsoon) during load-in, I didn't have enuff time to step out front to really hear the tone. Oh well, no BFD.

Gig tonight. Port St. Lucie American Legion. Gear will be '67 NR TBird>Rumble 100(decided to skip the Ampworks simulator), Yamaha EMX512 powered mixer(mixer section only)>JBL EON ONE PA.
If I remember*, I'll take a(fuzzy)pic of the set up.

I did not take a pic(not enuff lite). Drummer did(better camera):
Tall thingy is the JBL EON ONE PA, behind it(on TV table)is Yamaha powered mxr; next is TBird then Rumble 100. In front of my 'space' is mic stand and music stand for my lyrics book. Tile floor, thus the rugs(one for drums, one for me). My stool not yet set up. To the right of my rug is my folded up cart. Other band member's positions to drummer's right. Rope light is to try to separate dancers from band[not always successful].:nailbiting:
EDIT: Management wants us to take up as little dance 'area' as possible.

Is that your amp in the corner? I would expect it to be boomy there.

Aaaand, on another note-topic related, I took off the control cover outta curiosity. 47 cap; some of the wiring is bare wires covered in silicone(!). WT7? When I get the time to take it to the shop(45 miles each way), I'll have it checked out. Might explain why the _____* bridge pup is so weak. Or not.:wacky:

EDIT: *superfluous-couldn't think of the word earlier

Well, thats one way to insulate wires I guess. Looks like somebody decided to coat the bridge ground and the common pot ground wires in silicone vs just leaving them bare. Can’t imagine why unless they were chasing a RF or hum noise issue and they thought it would help. Sure looks umm, gross.

My bridge pickup is weak as well. But with both is sounds fantastic so i'm not touching a thing. Even with my "advanced" tech skills. :rollno:
