Still catching up...

But, The Sound of Music festival starts tonight. Link Removed So I shall be leaving in a little bit to catch The Warning. @KaraQ I will be holding you responsible if they suck ;):D. If they are good, of course it will be my own good judgement.*

* Good judgement of opinions upon which I should rely.

Mexican band who do a metallica cover? My first thought is that I am going to see something like*

* Yes, that is Ozzy, but my quick look didn't yield Metallachi doing Enter Sandman...

But it turns out to be something like this

First Canadian show ever! They started 20 minutes late due to technical difficulties (something wasn't getting them into the PA) but played their full set.

Good sized crowd. I was early enough that I was only about 15-20' back. They put on a good show and really great songs.

How would I describe the sound? If Triumph formed today, this is the music they would be playing? If Metallica were 3 women and Lars was a good drummer?

The guitar is a PRS through a Dual Rectifier, so it is the same sound Petrucci gets. The bass is through a cranked Ampeg + 810, so it is nicely compressed and has the Ampeg grit to it like 70s Geddy tones (and the open B string sounded great).

They make the playlist and I am looking forward to hearing much more from them in the future.

well then i hope to be among the most virtuous of us. praise the bird, and lets all rejoice in our virtuousness and virtuosity.

as a show of my shallowness, i got the white VP just because i wasnt really liking the look of my black VP. then i decided it was really just the white pickguard that was bothering me. made a black PG and then i really liked the black VP.

now im keeping them both. so i got a whole other bass just because of a pickguard color and kept em all anyway.

If you must, but this would be my preference.
I know, it's Thursday, I've no self control.

There’s probably more sanity in that post than the last 20 posts combined!

Wow, that thing is beautiful! A guy here has a Silvertone 1482 but I made the mistake of showing him what they're getting for them on Reverb, it doesn't have the original speaker though.

all original except for the shocking cloth power cord

she used to smell like waffles when fired up, for the first couple years

Good question. Which one has four knobs? Where is your majesty when you need her?

Gibson Studio series 4/5 string are passive, TB Plus pickups, set neck construction. Solid. Kinda want a 5 string even though I have no use for one. Excellent basses, nice variation of the traditional Bird.

It's tort twin! Two rare examples of tort looking good. (I don't think I've ever used those last three words together.) This pic isn't very good at showing that this bass does look really nice.

I have a '49 Gibson BR-9 amp. It has a strong smell when fired up if I haven't used it for a while. I plugged in the SG for a bit last night and it went into overdrive right away with the hot humbuckers. Roll off on the guitar an solo the neck pickup and it got a really creamy sound I wasn't expecting from the neck. The bridge pickup has a bad pot, so I don't know what it will do yet.

There is joy in undersized tube guitar amps.

Buy one and you will find a use. What is this resistance and consideration of use before the fact? You are our queen! No enabling should be necessary.
