Thunderbird Club

My Pro V came in an Epi rectangle case, and it fits it and the newer angled case I have with no problems.....but mine seems to be less of a problem in general than yours was ;)...

The V came in its own Epi case, which it fit OK in. I assumed it was a slightly different case - deeper, wider neck cut, for instance.

Sharon snuck a pic during the jam last night. It works for White Bird Wednesday. Patti doing her thang.

Still haven’t plugged it in… but simple enuff electronicles I’m not worried….

I love single coils and 60 cycle hum…

but holy happy horse poopie, this shager is noisy as shag….

I may actually shield this muther shager…..

or buy a non-$12 pickup….

or use that noise gate pedal I have sitting in the closet, and shield it too…

I would never admit this, like never, and still won’t…..

I checked the wiring no less than 12 times, but I think someone broke in, and switched the wiring at the jack…. reversed them… noise gone…

it’s too late to really crank the Marshall, but holy crap a single P-90 is a thing of beauty.. played it through the PF-50t too…

My Ampeg V4B head isn't too bad for a guitar if you roll the bass back.

Yes, Regular Rotos have silks, the Rotobass (their less expensive version), is the same string as their Nickel Plated, but no silk. Read that from a Roto employee.

Well... I thought both were without silk end.

In short, in my hands I already had:
RS66LDN - NOS, blue silk

And now:
RS66LD - SS, red silk end
RB45 - NOS, no silk

And brother 2009 Epi EB3.
Pics at guitar tech care hands (sent last week); primary for polish pots, pups covers, and now shielding, rewiring. Perhaps saturday is back.

I've always been afraid to deal with this electronics, better leave it in the hands of a professional tech. Even because some old screws were stuck on bridge pickup.

Something to consider in your tone quest might be SIT Power Steels, if you can get them. Great SS string. I've put them on three basses and all were great matches and the best sounding string for those basses. Grippy like SS, but not as rough as Rotos--if that's an issue. (Doesn't bother me, but some apparently have little girl fingers and can't stand them. I don't get the handwringing, but each to their own.)

That’s exactly the information I’ve been trying to get for months now (should have come to you first)!

I have EY pups in my BlingBird and chose to go with stacked V/T pots for each of the three pups for maximum tone control. Out of curiosity and in the name of experimentation I figured what the heck, let’s try 1meg ohm stacked volume and tone pots with .047uf caps. It actually sounds pretty good but there’s a bit too much top end for my liking.

I’ve been debating with going 500k/500k stacked pots thinking that might still be a bit high on the tone knob, or alternatively 250k/250k stacks but figuring that might be too low. You’ve confirmed what I suspected with the EY pups - they need a 500k vol and a 250k tone stack.

Unfortunately, for thru body (vs control plate) mounting there is no supplier of a 500k/250k stack. Fender has a CTS pot that will do it, but the threaded collar is too short to pass through the body and still get a nut on the threads. So what the frick I’ll just do it myself!

Start with a few of these…

Do a bit of this…

End up with this…

Pour a bourbon on the rocks and repeat a couple more times to get these…

…and that’s that!
Very cool George!
