I don’t worry about wearing out frets. It just means I’m using the bass.I can bend these and actually do, have ruined frets when I was a youngster bending but I don't care, I can tend to dig in anyway but yes it's like the prodigal son.

I’m normally a 45-105 guy, but I was playing in a band that tuned to Eb, and then had a song that needed drop D tuning which brought my E down to C#.
He's got a double SVT stack right behind him in that photo, no doubt he used Acoustics too, most of the big bands did before SVT's became common.

The VPs might go that direction a little, but nothing I think about. The '64 Embassy...that's another story. Gold metal olympic diver. Let go and it will take off, and while playing I notice I pull up a bit once in a while. I will likely move the strap button to the neck pocket before I use it again.
And where may I ask did you get a picture of Sandra???
I’ve always classified metal bits and pieces as hardware - tuners, bridge, string trees, strap locks, neck screws…
I would have assumed the pickguard to be a specific non hardware component of the bass (the same as a truss cover, nut, tug bar, thumb rest…
For instance, on a curved top hollow body LP bass where the pickguard rests on a metal bracket, I would order the pickguard and the necessary hardware (screws and bracket) to install it. I wouldn’t order hardware and hardware to install it.
I bet that luggage weighs more than she does in that picture.
I would think it would be most efficient to wait until they are perfectly aligned so you could take em both out at the same time. That way neither one has to live with any guilt, in fact they don’t even have to live at all.
I’m thinking a studio thunderbird would do the trick, a bit heavier than a standard TB, but you’d want to hold it at about mid neck, too close to the headstock and it’ll snap off in the back swing and ruin the moment. Maybe one of the newer birds with the neck volute would be a good choice as well. 
Wth, yeah. I'm a catching up on sleep and beleaguered with things to do... Going to a memorial service this afternoon. I think I'll just hide in a comfy chair with a couple beers in my jacket...

I'm not sure I'd even classify a pickguard as an "accessory", much less "hardware" - they're really just decoration, imo.

seems like there’s always a bunch of used ones for sale any where you look, but the used prices are ridiculously close to the new prices so I’ve never bothered to buy one. This one at $485 is about the lowest cost one I’ve ever run across, looks pretty nice too. Unfortunately, I’m really not in the buying mood right now.

I don’t believe they have made the white Cassidy for a few years so that makes it an even better deal…
