Thunderbird Club

To bad you can't mount that pick up without the cover.
Or can you?

I swear by JB! Was off roading with my Jeep a number of years ago, hit a massive rock wrong and cracked my transfer case. Fifteen minutes and two tubes of JB Weld later she was all patched up and I was able to get back to camp. Next morning I figured I’d have to call a tow truck to get home, but the JB held strong and I drove home. The fix lasted for years. When I sold the Jeep I put a new transfer case in it just in case. Now I always keep a couple of tubes in the trunk of every car. It’s like liquid Duct Tape!

Sounded really great in that context. It's funny, I had to listen from the Sound Cloud site and to the right where the there is a category #button (whatever they call it) and it was "#Disco." I must say I like the new disco better than the old disco!

disco-metal? :bassist:

I hear you. It has to be one of the best inventions ever, right up there with toilet paper--but never to be substituted for the aforementioned toilet paper. I have no idea how many things I've fixed over the years where that was the only option before taking the expensive option. I always have some on hand. My first encounter was in repairing the top tank of a radiator on my first car. I didn't think it would work given the temp changes, expanding/contracting and the pressure, but it worked until I sold the car years later. I even fixed a tuner for the E string that kept slipping out of tune. Mixed up a little J-B and no more slipping.*

*The last part is more from a poor over active imagination than reality. I have done really stupid things before, but that's not one of them.

My Son really loves the Fallout!
But he really wants a Gibson SG lol, he's switching to short scale due to hand pain. He bought the Fallout because it's road worthy and it's pink, did I mention that it's pink?

Yo, T-Bird Club Members. The great Gibson Victory needs to call in a marker here and get some advice. Looking to get your opinions as to what would be a good reasonably price player and investment piece. Somewhere between bargain basement, and the Holy Grail. All comments are welcome. Thanks!

Since I own a couple........

Were I looking at middle of the road priced Thunderbirds my choices would be these three and I'm listing the in order of my preference.

'88-2000 Gibson, shallow neck pitch, fantastic slim neck (much like my '64) great players. Don't be afraid to modify them, this one's had all of it's hardware changed out, pickups are from Mike Lull, the first Thunderbird repro pickup on the market.

Any Greco Thunderbird. These things will tear your face off...........Easily the best non Gibson Thunderbird at any price, a II (single pickup) is really the one to find.

Epiphone Vintage Pro, or '60s Thunderbird, a nice Bird at a great price, the neck is a bit bigger than a Gibson and the pickups are a little tame compared to the Greco, still a really good Bird.

When I first got that bass, I didn't love the color, but bought it because Thunderbirds were very hard to find in Seattle. As I played it, it sweat stained from my wrist and I didn't like that either! Now that it's turned piss yellow ( Not usually my fave color BTW ) I somehow like it - go figure
