I like a lot of his 70's stuff, this is one of my favorites, I used to do Funeral For a Friend in a band. Rocket Man is another favorite, reminds me of my thought processes when I was young. I also like Dee Murray for a bassist.

I was in the third grade when Kennedy got killed, I still remember the announcement over the loudspeaker, I saw Jack Ruby shoot Oswald live on TV.

I was in Kindergarten, but remember it like it was yesterday. All TV that AM was the assassination coverage (I was in a PM class). When my Mom took me to school, they told us to go home.

Yeah, I think we were out of school for at least a couple of days and TV was all news coverage until the funeral, I'm not 100% sure of that as I was young too but I'm pretty sure there was about 4 days of wall to wall coverage.

He opened with Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding in a late 1980 Oakland arena concert. Definitely put on a show.

AC/DC - Back in Black. The only album you'll ever need to buy from them to hear what all their songs sound like.

Both Ringo and George hit the ground running after the break up. Surprisingly, John and Paul didn't seem as prolific in new song releases as I thought they'd be.

That just never sounds good. Kind of like shrimp ice cream. Some things I like individually but don't want mixed. I like coffee, but not coffee ice cream, candy, pop-tarts, etc..

It wasn't until this forum that I recall knowing there were other humans who just didn't like or even care about the Beatles. I thought I was the only person on earth who wasn't a fan. A best friend I grew up with loved them. I would listen to albums at his house and was kind of like, "I don't get the fascination. Put on one of your Chicago albums." I liked a few songs. Lucy In the Sky, but liked the Elton version better. In fact, I would much prefer to listen to Elton than the Beatles. I don't know why they never clicked for me, but they just didn't.

An Elton fan for the most part.

I could see that. That was not one of his better tunes IMHO.

It's probably one of the first Elton songs I ever heard (knowingly).
I was probably only about 11 or 12 yo and a friend of Dads put Don't Shoot Me album in one side of a C90 cassette, (and Red Rose Speedway on the other side) for me.
I played the snot out of that cassette!
