Thunderbird Club

Had a house in Tahoe City for 30 years. Had bear issues and contacted the Bear League. Interesting trivia. The black bears were the prey of the California Grizzly. They are genetically wired to fear anything standing on 2 legs. They claim that no adult human has ever been attacked by our black bears. On the other hand, don't stand between momma and baby, just in case. Before we had bear proof trash boxes, you could tell when a bear vs a dog hit the trash can. I observed a bear take the lid off, pull out a bag, remove what it wanted, and then put the bag back. :wideyed: Dogs just made a mess.
Where our mountain house is, there have been a few repots of altercations between idiots and bears. The injuries were scrapes and contusions. But no serious attacks.

Black bears are lazy. All they want if calories. If they can't smell food, or can't get to it without a major effort, they move on.

Right now we're dealing with an elderly idiot in our community who actually feeds them. It's a complicated mess. One bear has had to be put down because he persists to feed them. Tragic all the way around. No one wants to see him serve jail time, but that is what is likely to happen for him. He refuses to stop. No one has been able to get through to him him that his actions are harming the bears.

People are stupid when it comes to their interactions with wildlife. I keep my interaction limited t0 domesticated Thunderbirds!

The Bear League suggested using paint ball guns to shew away bears. Maybe you can try that strategy on your neighbor. :)

I'm not sure I've shared this before. I worked as an in-house attorney for Allstate from 2000 to 2010. They closed my office and offered to transfer me to Seattle to co-manage the legal office there. I had to decline for family reasons. But looking back, it is one of the missed opportunities in a long career. Who knows what would have happened had I accepted the offer.
It is not worth dwelling upon the path not taken. Far better to look at the road you are on and make good choices.*

* Not saying that this is what you are doing. Just an observation/admonition.

Awesome! We have California black bears visiting our property every night as they are desperate for calories before winter. We've done everything required to keep them away from the house and have not had an encounter. I hope to never fight a bear.
Black bears are timid and will run from you. Brown bears and Grizzly bears are to be feared. I once ran into a black bear while I was out running*. I turned and ran the other direction and the bear did the same.

* Many years ago, when my knees allowed for marathoning and living in the middle of nowhere resulting in a need for time consuming hobbies.

Polite scavengers... Unlike racoons.

Well, I sold my 2014 ETBIV, and turned it into a PJ which was needed for the new band. Never fear, I still have the Not-Really-a-Goth.

Do you like 90s era Offspring style punk and Nirvana style grunge? The new band is Bite the Zombie. Here's two minutes to give you a taste of what we're up to.

I like it Haji!! Thank for posting.

Just got back from a gig. I was subbing (standing in) for friends' party band playing current and classic hits. Mostly terrible music but fun to play, people enjoyed it and the band sounded good so can't and should not complain and I'm not. Good wage too.
Used a T-bird of course. Good PA and a sound guy so I went straight to desk from my pedal board and just brought my small Hartke kickback combo as a monitor. The Suncoast EQ worked great so that definitely stays on the pedal board. The great bass sound explains my expression on the other pic, I definitely wasn't as drunk as I look like. Or drunk at all. Honest.
