After some more research, it appears they mislabeled the cables. OK, I won't be playing until I get a new set.

For a speaker cable you need something that can handle some voltage and amperage. A quick hack - get a length of lamp cord from a hardware store, solder a 1/4" jack to each end (tip to tip, sleeve to sleeve) and it will work just fine.

I didn't want to hurt the amp so connected it back to the 115RH. Today I was using the Sunn Concert Bass into the Sunn 215m and it cut out on the second song. Not saying the second song is the issue but the only real commonality is the 215m. I have heard speakers go out and they make funny noises but I haven't seen speakers just randomly stop. Kind of like a small pop, stop, then wait and the sound returns...

Does this sound more like an internal wiring issue in the cabinet? What does the maestro of sound magic think? Other lesser demons also encouraged to throw in a few cents.

I would open up that cab and check the jack/wiring. Also was the speaker cable a common factor in the failure?
Edit: I see I was late to the diagnosis!

Ain’t that the truth! I actually fully intended to buy one at release, but that’s when I found the 2nd (mint) LP money bass online. So I had to make some hard decisions.

IMO, those cables are the worst, colored sounding mud.

I've had Monster and D’Addario (lifetime cables) go bad several times. I ordered some from Butch at Bayou Cables )TB member), make the ones I use at church. A long one to my first input and some short patch cables and one for my wife's keyboard. Use them twice a week for well over a decade and never a hint at a problem. As good as they were new. Money well spent. And they were very reasonable. Never had a problem with my old Whirlwind that was half coiled. I loved that cable. Likely still works, wherever it is.

I usually stick with Pig Hog, Planet Wave and Mogami.
There's been much debate about cables.
But one in particular that cost a small fortune is Zaolla.
Awesome sounding to my ears. But doesn't make much sense to spend that kinda dough.
But they are top notch.

Single pickup Birds - I love 'em! To play that one of yours loud with a band, the thought of it just makes me sproingky!

Thing is, I would happily buy another new one were Gibson to release a II.

instrument cable Bud…..one sure way to cook a power amp……amplifiers don’t like the parasitic capacitance between the shield and the signal conductor often causing them to oscillate and self destruct….

Thanks. I rotate which amps I play and don't play them at high power. I'll definite cease and desist until I get 3 real speaker cables and inspect them to make sure I don't get fooled again.
