My family tree went full circle.
My wife’s maiden name is the same as her married name. Turns out we are related but you have to go back almost 300 years to find it. Her side of the family stayed in the UK and mine moved to America around the 1750’s. We reconnected the genes in 1984 (in Kentucky of all places). Good news is, none of our kids has a third arm or plays a banjo, so I guess we were beyond the kissin cousins fork.

Thunderbird Thursday update…
The BaCH II now has a “proper” Tbird pickup in it, a 760 ProBucker donated from the recent Embassy acquisition. In addition, it also has the upgraded Bridge and Claw from the Embassy. The VP transition was a success and she looks, plays and sounds wonderfully now.
Still not fond of the Chrome flats, so a string change is in order, but not sure what direction to take it just yet. Suggestions for strings that go well with the VP pups are always welcome.

Huh. What Thunderbird is that? It looks familiar…..IMO it has a nice low end. A great bass.A little more TT.
Chromes are fantastic on a Pbass. Not so much on a Tbird. YMMV.

Bela Fleck is an amazing player. Some guy named Victor Wooten was in his later band "The Fleck Tones."
The Mandolin player is Sam Bush. He's a cousin of my bro-in-law. Can play anything and has played on many albums and is on many tribute concerts on TV.
GHS regular Boomers, GHS Precision flats (great on the white VP--likely never coming off), currently the burst has some old SIT exposed cores and they sound great as well.

I've been out of action with bronchitis for the past week so I was digging through some old receipts and found the serial number of my first 1976 Gibson Thunderbird. I foolishly sold it to Daddy's Junky Music in Boston in 1984. I don't necessarily wish to buy it back just wondering if it's still bouncing around out there. Serial number is 00243926. Thanks in advance my bird brethren. Here's the only known picture of me with the bass.

You'll notice in m my post that I trade marked it.
Good question. Right now it’s still a donor bass. But it’s quite playable and sounds good. That said, I play mostly sitting down these days and I’m just not finding the body shape that comfortable for me. The goal is to get it down to a husk then off it to someone interested.
GHS Precision flats are a good suggestion, I don’t currently have those on any birds.
Rotos are a good suggestion, I have those on an SG and they do in fact sing.
