Thunderbird Club

Hey everyone! Just back from my trip and am not going to dig thru 30 pages to catch up. Did I miss anything while I was gone? I expect the usual planes, trains, and automobile discussions with some T-Bird action thrown in for good measure?

I did come home to a new-to-me lovely Bird. May I introduce the lovely Cataldo Bass #55.

Looks fantastic!
Glad you had a good trip. I'm still recovering some some kind of respiratory thing I had last week, with the weekend being the worst, otherwise I would have tried to see if you were available to connect while you were in these parts. May not have been possible, but I would have liked to try had I been feeling better.

Not sleeping well some recent nights and been listening to some SRV. A couple hardly known songs that really stuck out. The first isn't great sound quality. The second shows a very different mellow side.

I still remember the first time I saw him after the first album. I was in awe and when leaving I was thinking, "What just happened?" I have still never seen anything like it. The second time I saw him he was just a good. Took my not yet wife and even she was blown away. This guy was special.

Something mellow....

Kara, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. We went though that earlier this year with a little dog and I feel so badly for you. It's a horrible feeling. Pets are family--often better than a good many family. I know you gave him(? sorry I don't recall) a good life that you shared together. Both of you were better off for connected along this journey. Feel free to vent as needed.

back to interrupt the usual flow of non sequiturs, but with relevant T-bird content. Here is 38 minutes of a show we played on Friday featuring nothing but my Epi T-bird. Played through a THDI with AGS engaged into a Trace Elliot AH200 GP12, occasionally boosted with a Spark Booster in front of the THDI. I really loved how it sounded!

Carry on team Thunderbird!

Finally got back to this(been keeping my 'eye' on a hurricane). Good stuff!

I think the first time I heard SRV was here:

But that first SRV album was great. I was fortunate to see him on the guitar heroes tour with Jeff Beck. Two great headliners and SRV was at the top of his game. The encore was special. First JB, brought out SRV, brought out Jeff Healey. The encore was easily 30 minutes. Nothing special (no weird costumes @PaleAngel_90 ) just three incredible guitar players with incredibly tight bands.

Your part of FL seems to be clear from the main path, but I'm sure it still causes big problems. Hope you stay clear of it all. Keep your Thunderbird dry.
So far, wind and rain. Nothing too serious, thankfully. West coast gonna get the brunt.
My Bird is 3' offa the floor and I'm not in a flood zone.

The Bowie connection was no doubt true for most people. Bowie was a big help, but apparently only allowed SRV et al, to tour so SRV would keep playing in his band. Stevie figured out his career was getting back burnered and eventually backed out. Been a long time since I heard what happened, but I think this is pretty close to it.

As I was re-listening to his guitar parts and what he was choosing to play, I kept thinking "who even thinks to play this way?" What he often chose to play is just a hard to comprehend.

Jeff and I are the same age. Why does he look so much younger than me? What’s his secret? Is he really an alien from another planet?

Veronica and are also the same age. She looks great!

Should I start wearing makeup?

No on the make up!
It's an expensive rat hole that you do not want to go down!

Just take care of yourself, most guys don't take good care of themselves and wear that as some kind of badge - utterly stupid. Just taking care makes a huge difference, one thing I do monthly is a trip to get my hair cut and my brows trimmed and shaped, even this just makes a difference as it gives you a positive attitude, exercise of some kind, a reasonable diet and seeing the Doc of a regular basis all help too.
