What pickup upgrades are people doing to their thunderbirds?

I have an Epiphone IV and looking to change them out

The pickup routs are slightly too narrow for any of the mentioned pickups, you'll need to widen them just a little bit - hand tools or a Dremel at low speed will do it in no time at all.

I don't think I knew there were Bartolini pickups for Thunderbird. Anyone have any experience with them? They go for around $95 each on Reverb.

I put barts in my FrankenGoth along with an Aguilar OPB2 preamp. Sounds great, but not sure how much of that is the barts vs the preamp.

Nice looking mods on the green one! Did you end up keeping the stock pups in the green one? For some reason I thought you swapped them with VP pups, but my recollection accuracy isn’t what it used to be.

Yes there is a Epiphone 760 Probucker in the neck position.

My friend has made several guitar/bass purchases from Japan over the years and he said that in his experience he does not get charged extra duty/fees when shipped FedEx. UPS on the other hand has required additional fees. Not sure how that works any more but when I bought my Greco from Japan, it came FedEx (in 3 days) with no additional fees/duty.

I've bought a few basses shipped to me from Japan over the last year, and many more over the last 20. They've come EMS/USPS or DHL, and I'v never been charged anything extra (in duties, taxes, etc.). The states I've been in were NY, CA, and now Utah.

Love those inlays (stickers?). Always killed me that the Thunderbird get the boring dot inlays.

Also noticed the Bell sticker. I had a Bell helmet.
