Thunderbird Club

Not to diss the VP, but dayuuuuum on your '64's!
Thanks. I can't believe I have them. The Thunderbird sounds better. Other than set neck, I was a little shocked the Epi didn't sound pretty much exactly like the Gibby. Kind of darker, but sounds good. The '64 is where the magic is at. I've had it for decades and still am amazed I own it. Considering I have a degree in stupidity....

Good question.
I'd say they're are much closer to the Lollars.
Lulls will just knock your socks off.
They are totally in their own league.

And surprised about the Bi-Cen.
But maybe @TBird1958 can shed a little light on that.
If not SideWinders, i wouldn't know what they'd be.

But your tone in the second set was spot on.
I was completely knocked out by Lulls.

What year was the re-fin'd sea-foam green one? Is it a Greco?

It's an Orville (Gibson Japan) that's had a Tone Pros 2 point put on it in place of it's stock 3 point, so it looks like a '64. Its a set neck bass and other than that is quite close to the real deal other than the pickups, Scott's new about Gibson selling the new NR pups is welcome as that's been this bass' downfall up to this point. I don't know when this specific one was made as there's no S/N of any kind, seller didn't have that info either.

from my 40th HS graduation reunion that I didn’t attend….
please have mercy…..

Nikki would often anchor his picking hand with what he called the "Opti-Grab" ( taken from the Steve Martin movie "The Jerk") both of his Sig Thunderbirds had them - also good for routing you cable out.
As one that plays with a pick near the bridge I understand, though my preference is to have a bridge cover to lay my pinkie across.
