Thunderbird Club

One of the first songs I ever learned! As I’ve said before, McVie was my “teacher.” Fleetwood Mac was huge in Santa Barbara from early on. I played along with The Pious Bird and Then Play On. Drop and lift the stylus over and over….it’s so much easier now.
If I could sit in as an apprentice for one full year under any bass player that has ever lived it would be McVie. His style and sound has always been exactly what I’ve been after. My very distant second choice would be Duck Dunn.

But could you pull off the pipe look like Dunn?

Agreed George!!!
You need to compare notes with @MCF
IIRC He’s running his Mesa amp through my old Berg NV610. Nothing punches quite like a 10” cone, and six of them in a very efficient cab is pure punch heaven. His amp/cab combination would probably blow the windows out of the house if cranked. Of course he has my old SVT head as well, for that sound that only an Ampeg can get. Saw Marshall in the club earlier today, hopefully he’s getting at least a small breather from work.

We've had some brief convo's about that.
All i can say is just killer he's now got that gear.

"Green Manalishi" is my fav Green -era Fleetwood Mac song. Pure heavy metal.
There's some gems in Bob Welch era too. My band used to do "Revelation" (from "Penquin") live with me playing a dotted 8th note delay groove on a 12-string bass. We could have told the audiences that it was our song since I doubt anyone knew a Fleetwood Mac song that obscure around where we played.
Anyway, I like the Buckingham/Nicks -era too, especially "Tusk". Stevie Nicks' song "Sarah" is just gorgeous and I think that this song by the band I mentioned above has something nicked from that, at least in feel, even 'though I was the only one at that time in the band who knew the FM song.

I play my custom made Non-Reverse on it (through Hiwatt and some unknown 4x12" guitar cab) just to keep this related to the thread also...

My original demo sounded more like Field Music who incidentally are big fans of the album "Tusk"...

I reviewed records & concerts for the Technique (Georgia Tech newspaper) and worked at WREK (the radio station). Between the two, I saw a lot of lesser known stuff. Some went on to be better known (like Kansas). Many (like Brahman) didn't.

I won an album in high school from a local radio station. I went to pick it up and they pointed me to bins of albums they didn't want. I picked Steel River's "A Better Road" strictly because they looked most like a rock band. I wasn't whelmed with it. "Joyful Judy" and maybe one other song were decent (in my book), but that was it. Then again, another time I won a copy of "The History of Eric Clapton" because I knew all about 43 man squamish. That was a cool album.

I had (maybe still have) The History of Eric Clapton, I think it introduced me to 'Eric Clapton and The Powerhouse' who unfortunate only recorded three tunes.

Two of my fav songs off that album.

It's been so long I forgot King Curtis was on it. Always have loved the Yardbirds though.

Eric Clapton and the Powerhouse with the great Jack Bruce on bass. I've actually played the Yardbirds version of 'Ain't Got You' and sang lead off and on for years.

LOL - It was a free concert, on the beach, in the evening, in Santa Cruz - could have been a high school band and it would have been great.:D
Seriously, they sounded pretty good, Grace is Grace and nobody else is, but her replacement did a damn good job on every song. You be the judge, a cheap phone recording posted on YouTube from that concert in 2018…

I like her better than Grace, who would have never worn a Skynyrd shirt.

Saw them on TV once and they sounded good.

Other than having a hard time getting into the draggy feel of White Rabbit, it sounds great!
I confess to never clicking with any of their music. But did love the one song that didn't sound like Jeff Starship. Even used to cover that one.
Trivia without looking it up, what other hit did Micky sing on in the 70s with an unlikely artist?

Before I throw the switch and risk smoking some good chit...I mean vintage amps, can I get a verification that what I understood last time is correct?

Bass into input 1 on my Music Man Sixty-five (connected to both the MM 115rh and Trace Elliot 2103h)
Input 2 on my Music Man Sixty-five into my Zoom B3n
Zoom B3n into the input on my Sunn Concert Bass (connected to the 215m)

The only thing extra is I put the Zoom in the loop as it is my plug in tuner and could also give me some sound options on the 215m cabinet.

Phase 3 was using the B3n to split the signal into both amps. That worked very well but dang did that get really loud. Individually, I have everything at 5 across the board and the same on the neck pickup on my IV or CP. With both amps running, I had to turn my IV down to 1. 3 15s, 2 10s, and a horn can definitely rattle your fillings.
