Thunderbird Club

So here I is playing at a party in college.
Scanned I.jpg
You can see my nose and my foot in a cast. Morrisville NY spring 1979. My Ibanez Roadstar.

And if you ever sell yours, I'll probably start thinking about why I need two kidneys. What strings did you have on it when I played it? It became my holy grail that evening.

Will, it has Ken Smith Rock Masters (Stainless Round Wound) 45-105, the best strings out there with Purple Silks.

The story about WLW was that you could pick it up on a barbed wire fence in places. No radio necessary. When I was a kid, they had dialed it back quite a bit, but you could still get WLW near Columbus. Their transmitter was somewhere near Cincinnati. I listened to Big Red Machine baseball games on WLW.

I recall getting them on my transistor radio in Augusta, GA at night.

You’re not kidding. When I lived in the Cincinnati area I used to get WLW on my bathroom sink. I suspect it was the metal drain lines and the sink bowl was acting as a megaphone. When I first moved into the apartment I thought I was going nutz. Kept hearing faint voices talking when I knew I was the only person in the apartment. After a day or two I finally figured it out.

Now days I only hear voices saying “Buy it! Buy it!” I try to ignore them but sometimes I give in.

The best is when it's your wife's voice saying that. "Honey, your bonus money is just sitting there waiting to be spent, so just do it!"

This looks nice ?
Has an EHX vibe to it, but never heard of this EFX company before.

Probably because it´s a boutique brand, brazillian handmade.

Nope, I don’t normally waste my time or insult the seller by tire kicking or low balling. If it’s a fair price I’ll buy it, if not I’ll wait for one that is. And if that opportunity never materializes then it just wasn’t meant to be. There’s plenty of equally nice birds out there to choose from.

That said, I would consider a straight trade for one of my basses that market values at around $2500 to $3000, but I didn’t see any note from the seller about trades.

I'm of the same mind - and same goes for someone making an offer on my custom basses. If it's a respectful offer (a bit less) I can be swayed to accept for the sale. Low-balling... ah, no. As long as it sez' "make offer" - that's what it means and I price accordingly.
