i find it amusing that none of the guitar players I currently play with (two electric, one acoustic) uses pedals. I, meanwhile, use six (plus tuner).

Full disclosure: neither percussionist uses pedals of either sort.

Only 6? Slacker!

My guitarist only has a Wah-Wah (Shark tuner on headstock and lead channel switch out of the Marshall half-stack), and we're a 3 piece band. He did recently buy a BEAUTIFUL Paul Reed Smith though.

After using a Line 6 for quite a few years I have gone completely away from pedals of any kind, I really enjoy hearing the various components - pick, fingers, strings, pickup, bass, (PG screws) amp. So, I'm kind of working the KISS notion.

Nope. Not in the budget, not enough room for it in the house or car. No real use for it, either. Barring replacements in case of disaster or theft, I don’t see buying any more basses soon. I’d make an exception for a Holy Grail bass.

Wow, you're fancy! This is all I use. The bass expander (opposite of compressor) pedal I'm waiting for could make me have to rethink this to allow for one more pedal. I've been doing too much thinking about it, not even knowing if I'll need it.

Your board is perfect as is, with one exception. I see what appears to be a red or orange wire in there between MBD2 and Can I Borrow Your Amp Head. I'm kinda shallow that way.

I'm very close to that, although I use a Shure wireless that has a receiver/tuner pedal. So, my board has that, a Broughton high/low pass filter that's always on, an octaver, and envelope filter, and a DI box. The octaver and envelope filter are almost never engaged. With both, the upright can sound a bit like a Fender Rhodes if you squint your ears. So, that's what those are for.

I always love seeing what pedals folks use in their signal chain. When I was playing guitar I always had a few pedals in the chain but with bass I seldom do but might start to do more of, for now just call me “pedal curious”.
With that in mind…

Can you say more about the Sonic Stomp, what does it do for your sound?


Can’t say I’ve ever heard about the “Can I Borrow Your Amp Head” pedal, what does it do for your sound?

The four I use that are alway on are my sound/tone. Remove one and it's not the same. Same with my rehearsal space amp [Mesa M-2000] - I set it at tube/fet. It defaults to tube when I turn it on and sometimes I forget to change it before starting and it sounds off. Once changed - my 'sound' is back.
