Yes, I'd say that would be the best way to make that very distant connection, assuming it exists. My Grandfather (Roth) had family in that part of Indiana where DLR is from and there is definite facial resemblances. He could be a younger version of one of my uncles. Could be coincidence. Which is fine by me, I would just as soon not be related to him! Can't deny his ability, but I'm good not being related. Oddly enough, my Grandmother's family is related Bill Monroe, who while grew up in Ky also had family in So. Indiana. Then again, everybody is related to everybody if you back enough!

My guitarist only has a Wah-Wah (Shark tuner on headstock and lead channel switch out of the Marshall half-stack), and we're a 3 piece band. He did recently buy a BEAUTIFUL Paul Reed Smith though.

I try to stick to a select few options. The comp, eq, and pre are pretty much always on pedals. The rest are as needed, and don't get used a ton. I may add a flanger and/or replace the MXR phaser with a different phaser. The preamp is getting replaced, just waiting on the new one. I also plan to add something I haven't seen before; info when I can do it (having a custom bitmade).

Yeah, close to, except that the pickups are wound more on the newer ones making them louder and which changes the tonal character somewhat, I just unhook the cap in 4001s and early 4003's and drop the pickup down to make them approximately equal in volume. I did look for a switch for it like the newer ones have but when I looked Rickenbacker was out of them, because I do like the 'cap' sound sometimes too. I do have a new one though and it sounds good, is easier to set up and probably fits in modern music a little better.

I'm not sure what new 4003's are going for here in the U.S. I bought a new 4003S online before the prices went up for $1500.00 a few years ago, the 4003's were probably $1700-1800 then. I would guess 2535 Euros would not be out of line now in Europe but that's just a guess. It's a nice bass. This has the new type bridge.
