At the same time, Louis came in 15 years earlier than Miles (I assume you mean Davis). The reality he grew up and started performing in was different than the one Miles grew up and started performing in - and part of that was due to people like Louis helping disarm those whose racism was merely inherited vs invested in.

Yes, Miles Davis. I understand - I was quoting Miles reflecting on his life and the black artists that preceded him. Apparently it's why early in Miles' ascension, he would face his musicians and not the audience when performing. James Brown used to play to only black audiences. Both were making personal statements at a time when that was needed.
 
This was the band that played last at our show on Wed. Not sure exactly how to describe them. I give them a lot of credit for throwing themselves out there. They were kind of over-the-top ridiculous. Nothing particular good or interesting about the music, of course IMNHHO. And they kept asking the sound person to turn this or that up or down in the monitors. Jeff, please feel free to correct any of this or put me in my place. :D
