Beauty!!!!

All three are good choices in my book.

I swear a LOT and I'm not a Navy Trucker like @GonePlaid . I have been called something that sounds like "trucker" a lot in my life. :D I have often heard the expression of swearing like a sailor or a trucker so I think that means GonePlaid pulls double duty in that department.

I would have to work at saying "dang" so I might as well say what I mean.

very well said…

....being as rare as the seem to be, other than for the pup where I’m thinking a 70’s sidewinder, I’ll leave it stock and perform the in a reversible manner….can’t wait to plug it in…
I kinda came to a similar conclusion on my BaCH II. I really wanted a IV but just couldn’t bring myself to the point of carving up a rare pristine BaCH II to get there. So this is happening instead…

Other than the obvious physical difference between a neck-thru, a set-neck, and a bolt on neck - the goal is vibrational continuum. A set-neck is where the body/neck are glued together approximating a continuum. A bolt-on, depending on how it's bolted-on, also approximates that continuum. Whereas neck-thru and set-neck have variations on ply's and wood, bolt-on technology has gone though many more advancements since Leo Fender introduced the (cost saving) concept/design in the late '40s. Point being - a dynamic 'coupling' of body to neck (however done) will translate to the same end result - a vibration continuum. Our T-bird was born neck-thru, but much of the conjecture about added "sustain" (or whatever) of a neck-thru or set-neck bass is just that... talk. At the end of the day - they all rock if done correctly. :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Undecided on the finish at this point but leaning towards a subtle black paisley. The pups and hardware are from a VP equivalent (Eppi Embassy bass) donor. I have bolt on, set neck and neck through birds, they all feel about the same to me. I will say playing the BaCH back to back with the 21NR does highlight how much thicker the new NR neck is.

I might need a little enabling help/advice here. Someone's offered to trade this Epi Goth Bird for my Peavey MK-III, which I've had up for sale. Just need room, and I'm letting a couple amps go. Stuff crowds my fragile eggshell mind...
The Goth:

Not great light, but it looks essentially good. Has a few scratches you can see up close, he says. No case or gig bag.
He's selling it for $400, my Peavey was going for $300... Too cheap, but that's the local market for them.

It's a nice idea to have another Bird, but I'm... I'm...
I like mine. But I prefer my Epi Blackbird (because it’s lighter and I can get the action low without shimming). That seems to be on the high side for what they go for in very good or better condition nowadays ($250 - $400). See it, touch it, play it. You’ll know if it chooses you. But pass if it doesn’t. There are plenty of them for sale at any given time. At least around here.

I have 3 Goths. Good bass stock, great mod platform if you want to hot rod it. I think the Korean Goth is built a bit better than the China Goth but both list used for wildly varying asking prices (usually between $250 to $600 on reverb). In my book, it’s a $300 bass. Any less paid is a good deal any more paid isn’t. So if you value you gear at about $300 it would be a fair straight trade for the Goth.
Once you get it, replace the tone cap with a .022 cap and slap some EBCF strings on it and you’ll have a screaming beast that just might be one of your favorite birds. My capped Goth is one of the top three best sounding birds in my dozen bird collection.
I’ve given up on the EBCFs. I’ll give them to you next time we meet.

LOL - that does seem like an oxymoron doesn’t it. Here’s what’s at the top of the list right now, but could change as the build progresses…

…not as in your face as my Fender pink paisley, and a lot of it will be covered with a parchment pickguard. I had kicked around a vintage NR or Gibson color, or maybe even a distressed relic finish but with the Wenge/Wenge bolt on neck and shiny chrome hardware it didn’t feel right.
