Thunderbird Club

Aw shucks, thank you.

I'm just bumbling around, really.
Well today I basically spent the entire day working on my 12 string.

* I made a brass tailpiece from scratch
* Bevelled the body
* Dyed the body black before sanding it flush again.

With THIS as the result.

Call me crazy, but I really like the way this looks, the pictures don't do it justice.

I might spray the headstock face black since it doesn't suit the rest of the look of the guitar here. Maybe with some white lettering on there.
You've got a semi Danelectro Sitar vibe going there. Maybe a raise-able steel plate for the strings to lightly buzz against in front of the bridge... :D

I shared rehearsal space this weekend with a solo artist …I think Lego is his sponsor. His mom said that he wanted to lay down a few tracks so I set up the mixing board and everything..I guess I misunderstood.
I’m okay with that. :)

I'd like to play Legos there. But I'm afraid I would be distracted by all things with strings.

Well, @BklynKen I recorded a couple things this morning on my iPad from about where I stand. Even recorded part of a song. Sounded awful. Nothing at all like it really sounded. With just me it sounded like I turned the bass down to about 9:00 and with the song the bass was buried by instruments and singers. Got to talk to the sound guy. Those people are covering me up.;)

Too bad. Those tiny mics can't get low end very well. Do you have any sort of handheld recorder? I have a Tascam I've used for ages to record band practices.

They are owned by the same holding company that owns TC Electronics. All made in China.

Same with high-end road bikes... many major brands from different countries made in the same state-of-the-art facilities in Indonesia.

I have a TC Electronics combo 1x12 amp - it sounds really good and I bought it for $75 used!

Just before we planned to list the house for sale my wife started experiencing abdominal pains. We immediately went to the doctor and after several tests it was confirmed she has an aggressive form of cancer on her liver, gall bladder and pancreas. She starts chemo next week. So needless to say we’ve put a lot of our move and financial plans on hold.

The blessing in disguise is that with all the delays on the move we by default have ended up in very close proximity to UCLA Medical and other top notch cancer doctors and treatment facilities. SoCal is the best place for us at this time. I suspect we’ll be here for at least the next 6 months, maybe longer.

Thoughts, prayers and well wishes are always welcome, but no need to derail this thread with that.

On a related Thunderbird note, I will be trying to get my wife to help me with my current Tbird build (finish selections, pickguard designs, etc.) anything to keep her busy and her mind off of other issues.

Just read this G - I wish the best for your wife's addressing cancer and recovery. I'm afraid many of us will go through something similar as we age - it's all too real and sometimes feels inevitable. Keep us posted.

You guys are too kind!
Just a quick update on the move, which was supposed to happen last summer, but got delayed by home improvement projects that were dragging behind schedule. The revised move plan from just a few months ago was to head to the South East coast (Hilton Head or Amelia Island) by the end of December 2022 when the last home upgrade was to be completed.

Prayers on. We're here for it, and the bass project is a great idea.
Medicine has gotten way better at this kind of thing.
