Thunderbird Club

So, I’m thrashing along on guit and/or uke to a new (to me) band, the Mavericks from around Mr G Plaids neighbourhood.
So far two two chord songs that are a bit of fun. Damned if you Do and Dance the Night Away.

Do you lot know them? Is this a mine I should keep digging?
Oh, yeah! Check out “All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down.”

Oh. Them guys. Try "All You Ever Do is Bring Me Down". We do that one with a sub guitarist-had no clue who did it. And so much for 3 chord R&R. Two will do.
Easy, danceable stuff. Hell, in the right key(s), I might be able to play 'treble' on their tunes.(my guitar knowledge can be described as "I gots E and A and I'm workin' on D.")
Ha! Same recommendation!

Yeah, I looked it up yesterday, I had all the albums and don't remember that being on one. Too bad what happened to that band. I thought Zal Yanovsky was a great guitar player, he could get the most beautiful sounds like the reverb guitar on this.

Yep. Loved their stuff.

Good points!
I know if I had a thousand bucks burning a hole in my pocket I’d be looking at a used Greco II, or a White VP, or a BaCH IV in that order. The Greco would get a set of Roto flats, the VP would get Cobalt flats and the BaCH would get SIT Power steels.

I’m having a hard time getting motivated to pick up my CP or VP since getting the Greco.

Praying for y’all! Can’t wait to see the new baby^H^Hss.

In the U.K., somewhere in between the two.....Note the Les Paul bass.

I kinda wish there was a way(w/o spending a bunch o' $$ I ain't gots)to hear what my Les Paul 5er would sound like with 760PBs instead of the Barts that it came with.
However, it'll be cheaper(my middle name)to f---* with my amp(s) EQ to get a sound I really, really like. And figger out how to make it lighter.

I'm not with Grady as he seems to go downhill a little each week. I know it will be awful for both of us. As much as I love dogs, I don't want another one as the end is just so tough.
I get that. But we’ve intentionally straddled our three Cavaliers not so much for us but for the others who will go on after the inevitable.

The pickups.............The Rawr.

Thanks for all the well wishes, prayers and positive thoughts. My wife has never been sick a day in her life, so this is all pretty much a shock for us, but because she’s in other wise excellent health her odds of pulling through are even better. Again, thanks for all the kind words and good karma.
All the best George. It seems you are in the right spot, the renovation delays worked out well for you after all.

A Chris Isaak vibe. Great in my book. I need to head down a rabbit hole.
Yep agree. I like Chris Isaak alright and Los Lobos as well.

Is this The Mavericks you are referring to? I saw them at an outdoor show in Austin back when this song was new. They were quite good from what I remember.

They were an up-and-comer in Miami when I lived there. I'm definitely not a country guy, but met Bob Reynolds on the local scene and found we were associated through a friend. Funny, we were chatting one day in Coconut Grove and he took me to lunch. Nice guy, was very into the show thing when they played out.
But I have never converted. Country, and the Grateful Dead, will never see my allegiance...

Will you be using your GK 800 pedal or going straight? Let us know. I’m on the fence about what to get preamp wise to add to the wonderful Mesa TT800. The thought of adding another preamp to that two channels of tone the TT has is intriguing. Three legit amps in one. We are playing in great times.

There are sooooooo many choices.
Of course it's all personal preference.
I wouldn't even know where to start as far as a recommendation.

A mate of mine got in touch with me on repairing some silent witnesses of somebody during a psychosis which led to the destruction of his guitars.

Yeah. They were pretty much damaged beyond repair. But I asked if I could have the neck of the 12 string.

Which was in good condition

Now, a while ago, I owned THIS.

A Horribly chopped up super strat which I eventually sold.

But I liked that body shape, it reminds me of a Bouzouki. So I made a routing template and used that to make a body "for future use"

Today, I have been working on grafting that neck on to that body I still had lying around.

So what am I going to do with this?

Rickenbacker toaster pickup copies, I was looking for a reason to use those, and here it is.

I like it!
